Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • 2007 Honda LX 4dr auto - 2007 Honda Civic

Bought my Civic LX 4dr in June of 06. It now has 6000 miles. This vehicle suffers from front wheel spin, a bumpy ride (considering its lack of performance) but gets really good gas mileage. I get between 25-26 mpg in the city and 35-26 hwy. The seats are more comfortable over time. Great paint job. Overall, a good buy & much better for the environment than the Mazda3.

I only had this car a few days and I am very impressed. This car is the best buy for the money. The Civic handles great and quickly responds when called upon. The interior is comfortable and spacous with lots of trunk space as well. i will never buy anything else but Honda products. Im sold.

  • Luv R Si Sedan - 2008 Honda Civic

This car is one of the best compromises between performance and practicality that exists today. I am getting 27 mpg during break in. Quiet as a lamb when driven normally but roars like a lion when you drive it with performance in mind. Excellent ergonomics, a shifter right out of a race car and the best driving position I can remember in any car Ive owned. Buy one, youll love it too.

  • Some finer points - 2006 Honda Civic

Another great pocket rocket! Great balance of driving fun and practicality. Now a few finer points: The Si isnt a very good freeway driver as the suspension is much stiffer than the regular model and you feel the chinks in the concrete - this wears on the driver after ~30min. Short trips are great esp when turns are involved. Light weight makes handling great. The car isnt as "small" as you may think with room for 4 and a big trunk, but you really notice its height when washing it. Steering is tight/precise but one problem with the leather wrapped wheel is the back spoke covers dont fit right on Si models causing a sharp edge to catch fingers w/ enthusiastic driving or just parking it!

  • What a great little car! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

My new civic is the most fun Ive ever had on four wheels! It gets fantastic gas mileage (mid 30s in town and 40 on the highway). I have had it in several inches of Pennsylvania snow and it handles very well, but thats because I replaced the factory tires right away. The seats are comfortable and can easily accomodate my brother who is over 6 tall. Its also loaded with safety features... check out the crash test ratings! Great value for the money, take it out for a test drive!!!

  • Bad Car - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned Hondas for more than 24 years and this is the first Honda that merits a major complaint. No matter what is done, the car pulls to the right. Come to find out that there is no way to adjust caster and camber in the front or camber in the rear, only toe can be adjusted. After complaining to Honda and talking to two dealerships, there seems to be no way to fix the problem. The rear tires are so far out of alignment that it can be seen just by looking at the rear of the car. Honda says it is OK, even after their own equipment shows the out of spec alignment. I think Honda build quality has taken a serious decline. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

  • car for aging mom - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

i bought this car for my mom, whos in her 80s and is used to bigger chryslers. shes ecstatic about the car, its economy, safety and comfort. she loves the remote keyless entry and also being under 5 tall, loves the seat adjustment range. its virtually the only car in the price range that fits the small driver well. she can see out of it, and im so happy that she is safe behind the wheel

  • Fun to drive - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Have had the Civic for 2 weeks now and loving every minute of it. Took a long trip this weekend with the 2 kids and it was a tight fit with the car seats but it is a "compact" car. We now have 1200 miles on the car and have gotten 35-36 mpg. It is a very responsive car and fun to drive. No problems thus far. Highly recommend it if it is not to small. (the drivers seat fits tall and short people very well thanks to the adjustable steering wheel and seat)

  • Best car I have ever owned - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my 1998 Civic brand new for $13,300 and after almost 20 years and 194,000 miles she is still chugging along. I still drive this car everyday because every time I turn the key it starts. I am scared to buy a new car because I dont want to be let down. My 98 Civic is the most reliable thing in my life. It has out lasted lawn mowers, dishwashers, refrigerators... It is not flashy, it is not fast off the line, it does not have all the electronics that are in todays cars, but it is incredibly fuel efficient, practical, and perfectly simple. I love this car.
