Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Toyota Lost! - 2009 Honda Civic

Ive been a Toyota fan for a while, but when I was in the market for a coupe, I was not impressed with Toyota (scion). Everything I wanted was an upgrade on the scion and by the time I got what I wanted, the civic had it, (and then some) at a better price then the scion. I am very happy with the civic. I traded in my corolla for the civic. My wife drives a 2004 acura TL and she always asks me to trade with her, I tell her no, its mine!

  • Very pleased with my first Honda - 2007 Honda Civic

I picked my Civic up after having an engine blowout on my SVT Focus. I needed a commuter car, and went shopping. I was impressed visually overall with the car, and fell in love with the interior. Went for a test drive, and was pretty much sold. There are very few things I dont like about the car, the biggest one shouldnt even be an issue because its the reason the Si exists ( which is what I wanted, but couldnt afford at the time ). My other complaint is the legroom is just a bit short for me, another inch or two and itd be perfect. ( Im 63" ). Headroom is in short supply as well because of the sunroof. However, overall, Im very very pleased.

  • Poor quality of new Civic - 2006 Honda Civic

We have driven the 06 Civic EX for about 1500 miles; half in city, the other half on Interstate highway. We have encountered several items that indicate poor quality control in this car. 1) The car is not level (right side 1/4-1/2 inch higher than the left). Dealer fixed it by adjusting left front strut, but problem returned in a week. Dealer will try to fix again when take car in for item #2. 2) Driver side front door not aligned--goes to dealers body shop later in week for adjustment. 3) Interior trim loose on passenger side.

  • Commuters Take On The 98 Civic - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my first Honda, a 98 Civic LX, in January 2002. I knew that they were extremely reliable cars, but beyond that, I wasnt sure what owning one would be like. It had 28,000 miles on it when I purchased it, and it currently has 62,400. Ive only had a few minor problems with the car, includiong two recalls and a loose heatshield. The heatshield was probably from bouncing down the rough roads in Vermont.

  • Good for the money - 2001 Honda Civic

A very reliable vehicle, very low maintenance. The only problem I have had is there was a defective part in the transmission that had to be replaced, which the on-board sensors picked up almost immediately. The performance of this car is superb and it handles exceptionally well. The gas mileage/fuel efficiency is tops for anyone that has a substantial commute (about 30 mpg with 87 grade gas and about 40 with 93 grade). Not only is it a "green" vehicle, it is a very well designed and is definitely worth more than what you pay for it.

  • very convenient - 2006 Honda Civic

The 60/40 seats that fold down are convenient so you can fit approx. 6-7 feet of cargo in the combined trunk/seating cargo opposed to just storing in trunk like most cars. As of now, it has been 10 days and I have never put one drop of gas into its tank. It came with a full tank, and there is still 1/4 of a tank despite the 215 miles I have driven. The air circulates throughout the car very well with the four windows and the power/tilt moonroof. The keyless entry is handy with the trunk button, panic button, and lock/unlock buttons. The sound system is very clear with the Mp3 accessibility, and six speakers. I would type more but just ran out of crtrs.

  • Pleasantly surprised - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I chose this car because dealers were gouging on the Prius. I have been very pleasantly surprised. My mileage has been 48 highway and 43 city-- better than expected. Road noise and stereo have not been issues and both are superior when compared to my 2005 Escape Hybrid -- and the Civic is a lot more fun to drive. I highly recommend this vehicle.
