Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Bad MPG - 2008 Honda Civic

We bought 2 2008 Civic Hybrids being told that we would get 40/45 mpg and I have 4000 on one of the and 700 on the other. We get 28/30 mpg at the best and they tell us that nothing is wrong with them. Anyone else have this problem? Service even told us that they get a lot of complaints about this and that most people dont buy them for the mileage. I find this hard to believe. I could have saved $$$ buying a regular civic and got the same mileage.

We had a beautiful little red Civic EX Coupe. Added a Honda spoiler & alloy wheels but other than that it was all stock. Great car for 11-1/2 years for my wife and a year or two for my long commute/ high gas prices. Only needed to replace oil and fill with gas. The services were minimal cost. The first $$$ fix was about three years ago when one CV boot went. This past summer the ignitor went out in the distributor and she got the 100,000 mi timing belt and pump. My son loved it. It was running great until he dodged a deer running out in front of him at 9pm this past fall. Hit a ditch & rolled 2-1/2 times. He turned off the engine opened the door & got out. She protected him well!

  • Good but already seeing first problem - 2006 Honda Civic

Overall the car is what you expect, decent, dependable with a good mileage. But just 5 days into owning it I have seen the first problem. There is a vibration sound at low speeds(around 39- 42 MPH) when running on the 5th gear and slighlty stepping on the pedal or moving across a slight incline. Honda engineer should have easily spotted this problem.

Most impressive feature in my opinion in a Honda Civic is interior of the vehicle which is compact and efficient. Every operational apparatus is readily available to the driver to alter or change with a minimum of effort.

  • This car is fantastic - 2016 Honda Civic

Bought this for the kids because it has automatic braking and my short offspring liked the visibility. A lot of folks think kids should drive old cars because mistakes are less costly. As a 20 year insurance professional I know protecting my childrens lives is more important so finding a car with auto brake lead me here. The car has a top IIHS rating (NHTS star rating is worthless in my opinion) but in addition to being safe this thing is great to drive. My daily driver is a sports car and I am very happy jumping into the Civic with half the horsepower because the chassis is fantastic, it makes the whole driving experience nice. This is our first CVT transmission, Honda really dialed it in and it does not distract from the experience. The control layout is great, apple and android car play is fantastic, this $20K car has better nav then my spouses $45K factory nav. Took a while to get used to the lack of radio volume knob but that is so minor. The servicing dealer are a bunch of jerks, actually charged us for an oil change for a factory recall regarding the piston not being attached correctly. called the service department manager and he immediately agreed to remove the charge but the guy who added it wouldnt remove it over the phone so we had to go back - which was the last time ever at that dealership.

This has been an amazing vehicle. It goes in all kinds of weather and has held up very well. No mechanical problems.

I just traded my 2009 CRV for the Civic and so far I am in love with it. It drives like a car larger than it is. So comfortable and the dash is so well laid out. Air conditioning is much colder than my CRV was.
