Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Surprisingly Great - 2016 Honda Civic

Driven the first 1000 miles, time for a review. At first I was apprehensive to getting a Honda Civic, I wanted an Audi (lol). I convinced my fiancee to get the turbo trim, EX-T, and Im very happy we did so. That adds the heated seats and the bigger engine over the EX, which gives a significant bump in performance. Even with driving in NYC and highways I was averaging 36mpg in a tank (which is the EPA est). I personally dont like the CVT engine.. when you floor it from a red light theres a significant throttle delay, but its not horrible, it is a Honda and not a Ferrari after all. On a one hour highway trip doing a steady 75mph nearly the entire hour I got 40mpg, pretty amazing! 80mph on the highway feels very comfortable and throwing the car into Sport Mode to pass a car going from 60-90 is like nothing; you dont feel the car struggling at all, unlike my previous car a 2012 Corolla S. But the road noise from the tires/car in the cabin is significant, but it isnt German car obviously, but louder than my Corolla. Still the car is 1000x better, road noise is the only downside. The interior seats are very comfortable, and the dash is informative and clear. Now my biggest gripe is the center screen. Apple Car Play works great, but whenever your phone is connected/plugged in the music defaults to the phone, even if you had it on lets say FM, for example. So you have to click Source each time to switch the audio source which is annoying when youre driving. The screen overall is a bit pain in the ass I wish there were actually just real buttons instead of faux touch ones on the side for home, volume (which is also on the streeing wheel) and etc. Tuning the radio is a pain having to use the touch screen only. The first few hundred miles the screen would wig out and restart/freeze on me but that hasnt happened lately, maybe it was breaking in. The sound system is very crisp, Im impressed. Overall for the price and quality, its the best car in its class in my opinion. There are going to be gripes with any car, but I would highly recommend it. In my opinion, paying for the leather isnt worth it unless you actually want it because youre paying $1,000 more just for that without any additional features. Personally if youre interested in buying the Touring line, you might as well look at an Audi A3. The EX-T is the perfect balance for performance and features at an awesome price.

  • What Took Me So Long To Buy a Honda??? - 2005 Honda Civic

Had a Cavalier because I wanted to support one of Americas Big Three automakers. Turned out to be a major disappointment. Never again! Just purchased a new Honda Civic, a car Ive long admired. I cant believe the difference...its like night & day. It runs great, is a hoot to drive and I feel like a million bucks each time in hop in. Fit & finish are excellent; my old Chevy couldnt hold a candle to this cream puff. Gas mileage is a big plus, and the car overall just feels much more expensive than it actually is. Considered the Corolla but found the exterior to be bland. Honestly, you cant go wrong with the Civic. Im just sorry it took me SO LONG to realize it! Sorry, Chevy.

great car need to figure out how to clean bottom of back window. The drivers little junk compartment on the left side of the steering wheel needs to be moved up.The brakes wore out initially pretty quick also. the car is extremely nimble and fun to drive. gas mileage was less than i expected and i drive highway predominantly.

I never knew you could be in love with an automobile but, I love this car. I have had only standard maintenance issues and no major repairs. It is now pushing 119,000 and still going. I use regular gas and keep it clean and check the manual occasionally to make sure Im keeping the Honda standard.

There are a few things I would like to see better on this car, One is the noise level of the road is load, Also the Sound System is one of the worst I have ever heard, Also No Bluetooth, What is with that? I will be changing Speakers ASAP, and put Dyno matt down under the Carpet! This will help a lot! Overall I like the car.

  • Buy the LX and dont look back - 2016 Honda Civic

The car handles and drives really well. The seats are comfortable, and the finishes are high quality. There are many things in the car that are not found in more expensive cars, such as the automatic brake hold and choices on rear view camera angle. Gas mileage is stellar. I use this as a commuter car.

Ive owned 6 Hondas since 1980 and "fell off the wagon" with a V6 Jetta purchase several years ago. Am I ever glad to be back. Looked at the 08 Accord and Camery, but the milage and the EX-L/Navi option sold me on the Civic. Im getting 28 city over first 3 fill ups. With the mileage, navi, and XM, I cant wait to take it on an extended highway trip. Drove it through an inch ice storm and 7 inch snow fall last week with no problems at all.

Gave up my Acura TL after 7 great years. Was a little worried about "trading down" to Honda, but I couldnt be happier. Was looking for a commuter car, & this definitely fits the bill. Its very well built, nice interior, and easily fits 4 people (5 might be cozy, we havent tried it yet). While not the most powerful car, it delivers what it needs to in most situations. Its quite loud around 3- 4K RPM (going up steep hills). But by far the best feature - 42MPG, as advertised. Got 51MPG today on a 74 mile drive. I dont mind sitting at stop lights as much anymore, since the car shuts off. It does lack in some "luxury" things (push button start, HID, etc), but for 22K, cant complain. Great car.

  • Awesomely Insane !!! - 2008 Honda Civic

This is my 3rd Civic. I had a couple years ago and have been with GM for many years. After constant problems with GM and fuel prices, have gone back to Honda. Im 63" 210 lbs, and I had to have the drivers seat customized and moved back 3" to accommodate my legs. Now that Ive done that its totally comfortable. I didnt realize it was just a bit to short in legroom until a long drive, my Hondas years ago had more leg room. Other than that, a real great car. Totally worth the $ for the Si. I think the other models I would be disappointed in lack of power coming from a 3.8 V6 Grand Prix GT but this Si is even faster and performs better than the Grand Prix. Gas mileage awesome!

Got it as a high school graduating gift. First car Ive owned. I usually get an average of 33 mpg. I think that is bad knowing I should get more.
