Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Very Pleased - 2006 Honda Civic

I was hesitant at first, traded in my Chrysler for the Honda - but quite happy now - enjoy most everything about the car - has better speed and get up that I thought it would have. Quite pleased.

  • Do your Civic duty - in a Hybrid - 2008 Honda Civic

I just went one year in my Hybrid - 18,006 miles. My low mpg has been 41 and highest was an interstate drive from Richmond to Miami at 56.4 mpg for the trip. Terms like performance and fun differ with this car. I have owned Audis before this and still keep a Miata in the garage. They are the traditional performance models. The Hybrid ranks high in performance for how it performs its mission - transporting me around in relative comfort with extremely good mileage. The car is slow to accelerate but if you adjust your driving habits (I have) the reward is peak mpg. I still get to my destination but I do not have to pass other cars or arrive first.

Its another buzzy four cylinder overpriced import. The car magazines will gush over it initially, then back off in a couple of years. Hondas reputation for reliability is well deserved and is a big plus. But the car is small and feels cramped. It does handle well. The tech is good, especially blind spot detection. For the same money you can get a nice Kia Optima or Mazda3 or Mazda6 even. They deserve to be driven too.

Purchased mine used with aprox 76000 miles. I get lousy milage in town with the automatic transmission but good on the hiway. 1996 - 2000 6th generation Civics are outstanding !

The car is a fun car to drive. i test drove all similar cars on themarket and this was by far the best. Comparisons, RSX, GTI. This car has all the features you need. Great city car.

This is a great car and gets the job done. The engine is peppy with the 5 speed but a dog with the auto I test drove. I have about 6000 mile on it now and the only complaint I have is the crappy firestone tires that come stock. The interor looks great compared to my 95 and tons of upgrades!!! Overall great car!!!

  • Feels Bigger Than It Really Is - 2003 Honda Civic

Bought the Hybrid Civic over the Toyota Prius because Honda offered more standard features (side airbags, CD player, driver armrest). Plus, the Civic was more visually pleasing than the 1st generation Prius. It all comes down to whether you want the world to know youre driving a hybrid. Honda hid the technology in an existing model; Toyota displayed for all to see. The Civic Hybrid is a great urban runabout. It is peppy, nimble, and surprisingly roomy and quiet for such a small car. The CVT "shifts" without the driver noticing. That is great engineering. And the car feels solid; again, surprisingly so for such a small vehicle.

  • Great For My First New Car - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

we bought this car in June and I have to say I absolutely love it. I had never owned a new car before and did a lot of research before choosing a Honda. You definetely get a lot for what you pay. Weve already driven it on a 3,000 mile road trip, and it was great! The only problem I have is a rattling in my dash I assume is from all the interior plastic.

I went to the Honda dealer looking to buy an Accord, but went with the civic instead, better gas mileage, and renowned dependibility. This car shfits perfectly, is very smooth and responsive, handles great, rides great, and is great on gas, which makes me feel better, being more responsible with the good Lords planet earth. It was not until after I bought it did I realize it was motortrends car of the year. A truly great machine.

  • Tops in the Class!! - 2001 Honda Civic

Replaced a 97 Civic LX for this lease return. Styling, space, interior conveniences and power/tranny combo seem better than the 97. Suspension not as responsive & sone additional road noise than the 97. Overall a fantastic West Coast Canadian commuter. Very pleased. PS Still own a 90 Accord EXR for longer road trips.
