Overview & Reviews
Honda deletes the Civic EX Coupe five-speed with ABS model. DX models receive new wheel covers, all 1997 Honda Civic trims get 14-inch wheels, and the LX Sedan gets air conditioning.
- Fun, affordable, and good looking.
- Why are anti-lock brakes only offered on models with an automatic transmission?

Review - 1997 Honda Civic
By Twilightx - May 30 - 10:00 amFor 1st time buyer, this car is the one. The DX model is not fast, but it holds its own straight off the line if you have a manual transmission.

CVT Transmission Problems - 1997 Honda Civic
By Klaus21 - May 4 - 2:00 amCVT transmission developed serious problems at 60,000 miles and cost $2500 to fix, at the only shop or dealer which was willing to touch it. Now, at 65000 miles, it is going out again. Very disappointing for a car bought because one of its main features was supposed to be reliablity.

Civic was great purchase - 1997 Honda Civic
By kimmee - April 6 - 2:00 amBought this car with 63,000 miles. Excellent car. Have had no problems whatsoever with it! No costs other than regular maintenance. Highly recommend to those looking for fuel economy and reliability with a car that still looks good- despite its age.

everything you expect and more - 1997 Honda Civic
By dattman86 - March 24 - 2:00 ammy 97 civic has been one of the most rewarding product purchases i have ever made and easily the best vehicle purchase. i love my civic and will stick with honda on my next vehicle though i will probably step up to an accord or something larger. my only complaint is the road noise. it is not exactly a quiet ride. the handling makes up for it though.

Great Car - 1997 Honda Civic
By Jessica Smith - February 16 - 2:00 amI really enjoy my car. I am a teenager and loved the look of the car. I have been driving it for over 2 years and love it. I like the look so much better than the newer one, and the gas mileage is great. Its a great car.

Great little car - 1997 Honda Civic
By freudy - February 10 - 2:00 amIve had my car for 7 years now, and Im just looking to sell it and get a new honda. The only recall this car has ever had was with the floor mats - seriously. I still manage to get 30-34 MPG. Still handles very well, and Im only now starting to hear some rattles - mostly in the drivers door - and that is because ive had issues with my windows. my cousin, and my best friend also have similiar style honda civics and have experienced the same problem - the windows fall off track or get stuck. you can fix it yourself pretty easily, but i had my mechanic do it for $50 and the window works great now. thats my only complaint.

lame honda - 1997 Honda Civic
By jrehgkjfhg - January 16 - 2:00 amThis has been a fun and relatively reliable car but the build quality. The front rotors have been turned 5 times and replaced once and the steering wheel still shimmies. The computer has been replaced along with the oxygen sensor. The latest problem is an intermittant engine knock. It occurs sometimeswhen cold and sometimes when fully warmed up. Its not very confidence inspiring and Im trading it in because of it for a Nissan.

reliable econo-car - 1997 Honda Civic
By rh&sw - November 3 - 2:00 amWeve had this car for over 6 years now. Bought it new. The car is very reliable. It gets decent mileage. Avg about 27MPG in mixed city/hwy. The only problem was the battery failed at about 5 years. This is normal I suppose.
