Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Still Going! - 1997 Honda Civic

At 185,000 miles....only thing needed was the routine maintenance, am now needing to replace my timing belt for the 2nd time. Still going strong. Cant imagine having to replace the motor??!!! I had brake pads put on, and besides that, routine maintenance at 50,000, 100,000 (replaces the timing belt), plus oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. I asked a Honda mechanic how far did he think my Honda would go and he said, "400,000" after confirming that I get oil changes regularly. I bought this new in 1997 but my next vehicle will probably be a used Honda after this experience. Wouldnt trust anything else. Runs great! Im shooting for 300,000.

  • Hands Down A Winner! - 2006 Honda Civic

I recently traded a 2002 Civic EX Sedan for the 2006 2 DR Coupe. Although its a change getting used to not having easy access to the back seats, I rarely think of that when driving the car. 500 miles so far and the performance is totally awesome! Fun to drive, engine responds beautifully, great interior design and comfort, great gas mileage in the automatic and Honda really had the consumer in mind when designing the car with side curtain airbags and the impact zones. Safety features rarely offered by other manufactures at the compact, low car cost equivalent to the CIVIC. That says a lot for Honda and their ongoing effort to take care of their customers. THANKS Honda! GREAT CAR!

  • what I think - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive been reading a lot of reviews things I notice is the car does rattle, that is because if you have anything in the glovebox or in the trunk it will rattle inside with the cheap plastic. Car looks nice, but overpriced for compact car. Price in the entry midsize range. This car is begging to be a sports car, but its economy roots with is tiny 1.8 is evident, thus good gas mileage. So if you want so so power with good mileage civic is for you, if you prefer a faster car get something else and give up a few mpgs.

  • Fun little car - 2002 Honda Civic

Well I bought this car a year ago used with 43k miles, it now has 57k miles and still runs and drives great. Still getting really good gas mileage and not too many squeeks or rattles. Really love the seats and shifter. Factory radio sounded good but I replaced the speakers and now it sounds great. My car was lowered when i bought it, it handles really well especially around high speed corners. Not really in anyone elses review but the headlights really put out a lot of light at night, almost as much as the expensive hid systems.

Having a problem with my with the Bluetooth in my brand new Civic EX which hopefully will be fixed next week. The really terrible thing with this car is the front passenger seat. The thing is practically on the floor is uncomfortable as a result so please try it before you buy it. Other than the seat thing this car is amazing!!!!!!!!

  • Not the fastest, but the best in class - 2003 Honda Civic

Some people says the new Si is slower than its predescessor, its not. Although it has the same number of peak HP (160), power is present earlier on lower rpms, making this car far more driveable than the 00 model.

I drive about 160 miles/day - 5 days/week. I went from 18 mpg in my SUV to low/mid 40 mpg. Not the 50 mpg, but I do drive about 75% on the highway, where I am driving between 75 to 80 mph, so I am very satisfied with the fuel economy. It does drive like a regular car - Plenty of power to pass as well (Ive gotten up to 95 to pass trucks). A little disappointed with the fit on some interior pieces as well as cracking from the front passenger speaker but all that will get taken care of at my first oil change. I dont think at the current prices the Hybrid premium can be cost justified (especially compared to an LX or DX) but I got it at an even trade for my full size pickup (15 mpg).

  • Great Car for the Money - 2006 Honda Civic

  • bad news - 1990 Honda Civic

I bought this car 8 months ago for $1500, and it had 105,000 miles on it. Ever since then, it has broken down every 2 months. First it needed a new ignition coil. $350. Then a new axle. $350. Now the entire clutch assembly needs replacing, a new clutch pedal manifold, and it needs a new distributor (coming to about $2000). Also it has a gigantic hole in the muffler, which is very loud. clutch way too close to the floor, making it far from fun to drive. Loud motor all around, with mediocre-to-less than average pick-up. The driver seat has a big rip in it, exposing foam. Leaks a little oil. This car has been a nightmare. I guess its a lemon, based on the other reviews here being so good
