Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Very nice used Civic - 2008 Honda Civic

Traded in a 13 Ford Focus with lots of transmission issues and several recalls. Happy with this 08 Honda with low miles and $100 lower per month car payment!

  • Best Buy - 1999 Honda Civic

Great car, It is my first car and I looked around and bargined the dealer down to a good price. I have been very pleased with the car. I average up to 30+ MPG on highway (depends on how full the car is). You will pay several thousand more versus Ford or Dodges similar models but value that it holds more than makes up for that. When you want reliability, buy a Honda. SImple as that.

  • Okay car for the money - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

It was a good deal for the money, although it needs oil changes, etc. or it gets "fussy". For a small person its fine, but for a "larger person" its cramped. The gear also sticks sometimes when in park, not allowing you to turn the key and remove it from the steering wheel.

  • Doesnt Deliver As Promised - 2006 Honda Civic

Call me a critic but the gas mileage is not what the dealer promise. Ive now driven 4000 miles and am averaging 41.5 mpg since purchase. Dealer sold both the Prius and Civic...assured me that the Prius would average 45 mpg but the Honda would get more than that. I purchased the Civic, but should have purchased the Prius!!! Dealer said the car still isnt broken in, yea right!!! Car styling is good, but the wind noise is loud. The console is cool, but the seats are not very comfortable.

  • MORE THAN ONE HONDA - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my second Civic. The 1st was a great car...very reliable and great on gas. The second was is a 1998 ex. Vtec motor. If you get a Civic, it should be with a v-tec motor. Feels like a v6 on the highway. Fun to drive. Very sporty. Best deal for the money...and itÂ’s a Honda.

  • Great Fun Car - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my 6th Honda, first Hybrid. So naturally I like Hondas. I was surprised by the power, not like the original VW diesel of yesteryear. Car is fun to drive, but watch out dont get caught and wrapped up looking at the dashboard constantly showing data or you will be in an accident. I only have it for a couple weeks but the MPG is as good or better than the sticker rating. Usual Honda quality, not a thing wrong so far, there is no laundry list for the dealer to repair when first service come around.

  • 2000 Civic,my first, but not last import - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

I had never owned an import, and never bothered to listen to those who let me know how great their imports were... well now I tell others how good my import is. The mileage is amazing, and it doesnt comprimise the performance (granted this is not an 8 cyl, or the SI for that matter). It is very fun to drive. Above all else it is well built and still feels like brand new (30,000 miles into its life).

  • My Perfect Match - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned this 2000 Civic Si for almost 2 years. So far I have spent exactly $0.00 on repairs. Regular maintenance and rough driving is all Ive put into it. Compared to my previous car (1996 Ford Taurus) which had several expensive issues and malfunctions in 3 years of ownership. Driving the Si is a lot more fun and it gets decent mileage even if you get a heavy foot from time to time. (I averaged 28 MPG even with rambunctious driving and stop and go driving. The factory spec is 26/32 MPG. This car is my perfect match. The next closest would be the Celica GT-S which is a little too flashy looking for my taste.

  • best ever - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

i bought my 1995 civic in 2001 as a winter car. there was 334000 km on it then, and it was in a fender bender. There is now 445000 on it now. Fourth timing belt, same clutch. First owner put 317000 on it, sold insurance, oil change every 2 weeks. 45 miles to the gallon winter, the hotter the summer the better - it is 50 plus miles. All i have replaced is tires, exhaust, rad, doesnt burn any oil. I still change often.

  • Best of them all - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Although Ive only owned my Civic for a week, I did my first fillup and got 41 miles per gallon (mostly hwy). I expect this number to increase as the car gets broken in.
