Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • The best subcompact out there - 2009 Honda Civic

Concerned about going from a V-6 to a 4 cylinder. Not anymore. A zippy little car with great stopping power. Urban Titanium color gets great remarks and some say the body style looks European. I like the double decker dashboard. Cant be accused of telling a police offer I didnt know how fast I was going.

  • Fifth Honda, and still getting better! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Since getting my Civic EX in June 06, I have had a few issues with it. Starting at around 50 mph, there is a low whistle heard at the front part of the car. I thought it was the mirrors or the wheels and tires. Took it to dealer (less than 1000 miles at the time), who could not fix the problem. Said they are all like that. Not a good answer. Also, the one-touch up and down switch for the drivers window is WAAAAAAY too sensitive and hard to regulate. Im going to talk to the dealership to see if they can bypass or switch it out to a "normal" window switch. The car as a whole is screwed together very well. Great fit and finish. Mine is royal blue pearl metallic, with the beige interior.

  • A little red dream - 1997 Honda Civic

My little red civic hatchback (3 door) is a dream to own. with oil changes every 3000 miles, it has run like new since the day i got it. i havent had any problems with it what so ever. If you are looking for a reliable and stylish used car, this is the one to go with. it wont let you down.

  • Transmission problems on Civic HX model - 1999 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought a new HX in 99. Today with 32k miles its been in the shop 5x w/ transmission failure. The CVT tranmission has been replaced 2x and has been flushed out 3x. Honda cant fix it, every 6000-8000 miles it fails. At an intersection when the light turned green it went into reverse when it was in DRIVE. On the free-way it jerks when it changes gears. A CVT trans is supposed to have smooth gear shifting. The new 03 HX has the same CVT transmission. A Honda service advisor said these problems are starting to show up around the country with the HX. There is no fix, Honda engineers are going to ponder over it and get back to me.

  • The BEST pocket-rocket!!!! - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

I reviewed and drove many, many cars before buying my 2000 Si and finally decided that it offered the most for the money. I have not been disappointed since. This car flat out ROCKS!!! It has awesome, easy to use power and anyone with a VTEC motor will tell you that the sound is great. handling is flat and precise. Ive had no problems whatsoever during my 2+ years of ownership. I trade cars pretty regularly (a new car about every 2 years) but I will DEFINITELY keep this car as long as possible. A keeper!!

  • So sorry - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my 3rd honda, 2nd civic ex-l. i had a 2015 civic ex-l and traded in for 2016 civic ex-l. I am so sorry i did that and paying a lot more for no difference in upgrade. the trunk is small, no power seats on the drivers side. I think they cut the size a lot! I think in 3 years going to change to a different make car. I am so sorry i traded my 2015, : ( big big big mistake!!! only thing good it has 8 speakers and turbo and faster than the 2015 and has Sirrus! that is it. Dont waste your money.

  • Same old, same old - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

Same old, same old reliable Honda. Overall, I would have to rate this new Civic as excellent, as all Honda products tend to be. Maybe a bit bland in some areas, but fun to drive and very rliable. Some cost-cutting is evendent in the newer models however...but just go down to a GM dealership and sit in one of their POSs (any...Chevy to Cadillac) and youll think you just went to heaven.

  • Best Buy Ever - 1998 Honda Civic

  • 4-dr 2006 Honda Civic with Nav.system - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Enjoyable car to drive. Outstanding characteristic is the absolute quiet inside the car. Your eye picks up the high level of interior quality. Seats are comfortable and supportive for my aching back. The more I view the new dash board with its two tier instrument panel, the more I appreciate the design. I find the voice-activated navigation system so useful that I use it even when not absolutely needed. The system and voice start your radio, change stations, give time as well as how long and how far to your destination. The exterior design is different and eye-catching for a Honda Civic, especially the unusually wide windshield. A minor bone of contention is the bounciness when going over bumps.
