Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

My new 2012 Civic replaces a beloved 1995 Camry and it immediately felt as comfortable and solid as the Camry. It handles well, is easy to drive, and gets 32 mpg in the city. On a recent road trip, we fit in three adults with luggage, camping gear, and extras. We got 38 mpg on the trip, and it was quiet enough to easily have conversations with our back seat passenger.

My 3 year lease on the Civic is up in a month and Im glad that Im returning it. I havent had any big problems with it (only replaced ABS sensor under warranty @ 15K miles), so its been a reliable car. Its definitely not a bad car, but I think there are others that are better (replacing it with a Subaru, which is AWD, more powerful, quieter, better handling, and more fun to drive). I like the fuel economy, consistently get around 30-35MPG (Ill miss that with the Subaru). Like when the VTEC activates in the higher RPM range (especially 2nd and 3rd gears), gives you a little push. An advice to anyone interested in the Civic: look at Toyota Corolla, Matrix, and Mazda3 before purchasing.

  • Hondas are not all theyre cracked up to - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought my 2005 civic ex coupe because I needed something that was fuel efficient which this one was not. From the time that I bought it I only managed to get 23 miles to the gallon in town, and on cold days it had trouble starting. The interior build quality was junk - push any where on the dash and the whole thing flexes, took to the dealer they could not explain the poor fuel economy or cold start issue, and by the way i only ran chevron premium in it. In the end i traded it in. I definitely do not recommend honda to anybody!!!

  • HIGH MPG+SPORTS CAR FEEL - 2005 Honda Civic

I wanted a good quality car that got high mpg and a really nice interior. Well the Civic fit my needs & the EX has all the options youll want. I’m still breaking it in so this review is limited but from what I’m experiencing driving this car, it’s fun to drive plus you get great gas mileage. Only thing is you cannot be over 6 feet tall, if you are, you need to look at different Honda models. A nice feature is the backlit instrument panel. The black interior is the best, I got Rallye Red with black interior. The EX has body color dual power mirrors (looks sharp) no matter what trim level you get youll be satisfied with the Civic.

  • The Y2K Civic EX sedan - 2000 Honda Civic

Its been very reliable. Ive had no trouble whatsoever, even with the harsh winter we had. Workmanship is above standard. Peppy 1.6 liter engine and very gas efficient, which is a plus considering gas is averaging $2.20 a gal. around my area. This car rides tight and rattle-free, great for a small car. Make sure you get a Civic thats Honda certified, this way you wont wind up with a car thats been "upgraded" with aftermarket add- ons by some mechanic wanna-be.

This car has everything youll ever need! Drives smooth, has excellant audio system, handles like a race car, and is very comfortable in the front and rear seats. Excellant on gas which is important nowadays. I highly recommend this car for anyone looking for a great value and trouble free ownership, also for anyone looking for a good time!

  • Avoid the 2016 Touring at all costs. - 2016 Honda Civic

The problem with this car is in the center, software driven console. I have had to learn how to pull the fuse in my Civic, because every 30 days there is a problem. I have had my car since January, and I have had it to the dealer twice, and I have reset the radio twice. The car is sitting in my driveway right now with a rattle in the subwoofer and an audio deck that wont turn off. I have had the cars software updated in accordance with the issued TSB, no relief. Dealer just has the stupid look on their face every time I take it back. I am actually thinking about selling the car--it only has 2,000 miles on it. The aggravation is not worth it. The Adaptive Cruise Control works, but is somewhat slow to respond. The rain sensing wipers work in name only. In general the worst car I have ever owned. I cant imagine keeping this for five years. Disappointing at best.

I bought my Civic after facing the facts. Insurance for someone under the age of 25 is outragous. I decided on this car in June of 2004. I was working at the local Honda dealership when an older women was trading it in for a brand new Civic. I saw the car and felt that this would be a wise investment. I bought the car the next day. I have loved this car since the day that I bought it. It has started up every single time and the car has run flawlessly. The car could use a little more power. But this car gets out of this world gas mileage. I keep a record of the gas mileage I get ever time I fill up. I usally average about 36 MPG.

  • Cant beat a honda! Best bang for $$$$ - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Car is way better than previous models. however, the door handles plastic under part scratches very easily, and when getting into vehicle its easy to bang your knee cap or shin bone on dash end. HURTS!! im averaging 29.5 mpg city/hghwy and not the 40 mpg highway as listed. all other features are awesome. in general the car is comfortable, very practical, great resale value and built quality. i traded an 04 mustang gt convertible for this, and i dont regret it. Dont hesistate to buy any civic model :)

  • Fun fun fun - 2008 Honda Civic

I just picked it up last night, but it has been nothing but fun since then. This is my second SI, the first being a 1990 model when I was younger. I never owned a vehicle since then that had so much fun character to it, till now. Anyway, it has a great sound from the exhaust and is a blast to drive. I have not quite gotten the sound system adjusted, but I am coming from a BOSE system in the vehicle I have passed to my wife, so it may never sound that good. All I want to do today is drive drive drive!
