Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I just got this car less than a week ago. This car is sweet, love to rev it over 6000 rpm where the vtec kicks in. Great interior and very roomy for a car of its size. My wife really wants to learn to drive stick now that I have this. My 6 month olds car seat fits easliy in the back where as in the coupe it was a hassle.

  • Best sedan for the money! - 2006 Honda Civic

The Honda civic ex is absolutely the nicest car out there for the money. I test drove all of them and this hands down is the best. I was a proud owner of a 2003 Mazda protege, so when I wanted to upgrade I thought for sure I was going to get the Mazda3. It didnt match up. Smoother ride, better standard features, and innovative look. A great choice.

I drive a lot. This car is great for a person who does so. The few problems I have run into are... seeing the "blind" spot - the pillar is in the way for a head check uphill power with the automatic tranny - have to put it into passing gear space inside - always bumping elbows boring - its a car that is really nothing special not enough places to stash your stuff like sunglasses etc. The upside... its inexpensive to own. 30+ mpg, low cost to buy. It was just as expensive to insure as my 2001 4x4 Tacoma which I thought was odd. Overall, I wish I had bought something with more personality even if it had cost a few bucks more.

  • One Major Problem, Otherwise Great - 1997 Honda Civic

This has been a great car. I bought it new and drive less than 10,000 miles per year. I have had a major problem with the exhaust system. I have had to have the exhaust pipe replaced twice and the muffler replaced once. I just had the pipe replaced 4000 miles ago and its beginning to rattle again. The mechanic says that short trips tend to do this to an exhaust (condensation does not have a chance to evaporate and rots the pipes) but I dont know. One minor problem is that the window fell off track and had to be replaced. Overall the car is great, and I have had no engine problems at all.

OK, Ill admit, the sticker mpg of 47 highway is high - I usually get about 40mpg on the highway setting the cruise at 70. And the pick-up is a little slow (I used to have a 6 cyl, so its an adjustment). In town (which is most of my driving anyway to work/school) I get 47/48 mpg, which is fantastic, and I still love how it "shuts off" at stoplights -all my friends just think this is the coolest. Sure, if money is the only reason youre buying, youll probably never make up the cost unless gas reaches $5 a gallon, but if you want a reliable car thats easier on the environment and still nice on the pocketbook (a $30 fill up lasts me well over a month) this car is for you.

I bought the Civic GX because I love the idea of using natural gas instead of petroleum. The engine is smooth, although somewhat underpowered. The car handles surprisingly well, despite having a big (and obviously heavy) tank behind the back seat. I average around 37 mpg, in mostly freeway driving. Mileage drops considerably on short city trips. Dashboard layout and visibility are excellent. The drivers seat unfortunately is undersized, poorly designed and uncomfortable (the seat in the Corolla is substantially better). E-brake in the knee underscores that the Civic is designed for small drivers.

I have 186000 miles on my Civic. Have never experienced a failure to date. I use only synthetic oil and change it every 7500 miles. The car has never let me down. On a recent trip of 3000 miles to the Florida Keys the gas mileage was 36 MPG with the best tank average of 40 MPG

c\Car gets you from point a to point b. I am use to driving muscle cars there for I see this car has no performance. Its good on fuel economy and good reliability.

The Civic hybrid is so much fun to drive and still is very environmentally friendly. The car is packed with features, very roomy and loaded with safety equipment.
