Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Overall Im impressed with this litte car. mileage and styling are impressive. as a commuter vehicle it works well, however there are some things that Im surprised Honda let slip by. The AT seems to upshift too soon, and often has to downshift almost immediately. I wonder how this is gonna hold up after 50-100K miles. The seats are uncomfortable for trips >2 hours. The interior plastic around the center console is so soft that it can be scratched with a fingernail. The rubberized plastic on the upper part of the doors picks up dirt constantly and the lower hard plastic scuffs easily. Lastly there are several different rattles in the dash depending on the temperature.

  • 2007 Civic Si Sedan - 2007 Honda Civic

I am very happy with my Si Sedan. I used to drive a 2004 MINI Cooper S and then traded that for a 2005 Accord. I loved the MINI style and performance at entry level price but did not like driving 85 miles for free scheduled service to the closest MINI dealer. I wont buy anther MINI until I can take it to the BMW dealership in town. So needless to say the 4cyl Accord I bought did not make me a happy camper behind the wheel and I began to covet the Si Sedan. The Si is plenty fast for my situation, sure it could use more torque and horsepower but $22k is a bargain. I love the quality and dependability of Honda but they need to offer more HP in the Civic to keep me in them.

  • 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid Rocks - 2006 Honda Civic

Excellent car. Hybrid, but feels and drives like normal car (compared to Prius). Highly recommend NAVI system ($1500), but well worth it. Started off with 44mpg, but after learning pulse & glide technique am now getting 51mpg. Greenhybrid dot com is a great site to learn about hybrids get reviews and real mpg vs what manufacturer thinks. Luckily Honda is pretty close if you drive easy. Enough power, but no Cobra Mustang. If you want to feel good (and green) and not sacrifice, I highly recommend Civic Hybrid. Only bone to pick with Honda is that I wish 2006 offered manual xmission. CVT is good, but always liked to pick the geat vs the xmission picking for me. Rick C

I purechased this car because i had crashed my 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. Was an impulse buy i would have 2 say because i liked the wheels. This car has overall good performance and good looks but i wish it was more sporty like a Ralliart. I love the gauges and the moonroof but the stereo sounds a little cheesy! I also have 2 say this Honda is very sensitive. I was hit in the front end around 13 mph and my airbags deployed over nothing! Literally i only had a broken headlight and a bent hood which wasnt at all bad which ended up costing my insurance company $6,000 more then expected to replace the airbags

  • Zippy Car - 2005 Honda Civic

Ive had trouble getting comfortable in this car. The seat is low and hard; there is no arm rest; I need to reach too far for the small steering wheel; and the pedals seem too close together. Everything is fine on a short trip, but I commute 45 minutes one-way and Im shifting around in my seat too much after 30 minutes. I thought this would be a great commuter car, but I wish I would have gone with the Accord.

I love my new Honda Civic. Although Im a bit biased because my previous car was a 98 Civic. Affordable, economical, and fairly fun to drive. Im actually near my EPA rates MPG.

  • Is this car really a Honda? - 2001 Honda Civic

Note to all looking for this car... it falls apart at 80k. Period. Ive had to replace the tranny ($2800), another timing belt/water pump/tensioner ($850), shocks ($880), resently. My opinion is that shocks and a tranny should last more than 80k especially on a honda. I almost have more money into this car than I could trade it in for in only the last month. I cant believe Honda would put thier name on this heap...and I maintained mine good too.

Just got car so I only have 35 miles on it. Having driven 6cyl mini vans then SUVs for the past decade I am pleasantly surprised with the pep of this car. It is quite roomy, yet gives you a cockpit feel. Dealer experience was awesome and was mostly done via internet. So far I am quite happy.

  • Dont expect it to be a "Drivers" car - 2008 Honda Civic

After owning a Mazda RX-8 6spd,(my wife had problems driving a manual after breaking her foot last fall) the Civic was a major step down. Its a nice looking car, but its weak and handles terribly (very choppy ride at highway speed) compared to what I was used to driving. The speedometer placement is very unnatural and distracting especially at night. If all you need is a reliable high mileage commuter, this may work for you, but if I had another chance, Id more likely buy a Corolla.
