Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

What happened Honda? - 1998 Honda Civic
By Love-A-Nissan - July 8 - 10:00 amMy fiancee owned the car for about two years before finally getting rid of it after the transmission went out with less than 50000 miles on it. If this had been just about any other import car the rapairs would have been covered under the powertrain warranty, but not on a Honda. The exhaust manifold had also cracked on the car about a year earlier. I have a friend with a 2000 Accord coupe that is aslo having transmission trouble. Where is that Honda quality I always hear about? Ill stick with Nissan. They build more exciting cars at a better value and I have never had aproblem with any of my Nissan vehicles.

my 5th honda civic - 2006 Honda Civic
By moog33 - July 7 - 6:26 pmThis 2006 honda civic is a Giant leap forward compared to my previous honda, a 2002 civic. This car has a great smooth ride and handles like a small accord. The engine has a smooth silky feeling to it (like all hondas), also has plenty of power for passing at highway speeds. My driver side door did need a small adjustment, dealer took care of it. Drove the mazda 3 before buying my civic and found the ride harsh and expected long term maintenance too expensive. Drive the civic before buying anthing else, An absolute must if you want a quality, reliable and economic small car, plus the styling will stay fresh for years.

Best car available? - 2006 Honda Civic
By Ray - July 7 - 5:26 pmWonderful car - well equipped even when compared to BMW/Lexuses and the mileage cant be beat. Not for drag racing but acceleration for passing quite adequate. Keep your BMW 850i or Lexus LS400 in the garage for special occasions - be a patriot and drive a Civic to work/errands.

Hi Tech /Gas Saver - 2006 Honda Civic
By Donald - July 7 - 2:40 pmI am a much better driver because of the MPG gauge. By constantly trying to improve my gas mileage, I drive slower and much more economically. I have avoided several accidents because I was driving more cautiously. The navigation system is excellent! I have made several trips to new destinations, the directions given to me audibly and on the screen were perfect! The stereo sounds very good for a stock unit and the seats are very comfortable. People are always gazing at the car and asking me questions. The big question is "how is the gas mileage" and I am pleased to say that I am averaging over 47 MPG in mainly stop and go traffic.

Five years and still love my Si coupe - 2000 Honda Civic
By billz1 - July 6 - 4:35 pmBought new - I drive hard and love the way this red rocket runs. Excellent value for the money. Extremely reliable. I regularly check the resale on this car - a stock Si holds its value as well as a Mercedes.

Bought it new and still driving daily - 1999 Honda Civic
By Mike - July 6 - 3:02 pm1999 Civic EX coupe. What a great little car. It is never in the shop except for regular oil changes. I had the timing belt, water pump, gaskets and other belts replaced at 100K miles as preventative. Now its ready for another 100K. If youre looking for a dependable vehicle, this is a good one.

Truly a fun drive! - 2003 Honda Civic
By Terry - July 6 - 5:36 amThis car is more than all about fuel economy. Its well built, comfortable, and fun to drive. The car literally teaches you how to be a better, more fuel efficient driver. My oldest son drove it to a college campus 40 miles from home and challenged himself to get better mileage every time he drove it. He consistently pushed 50 MPG. I do a lot shorter trips, and like my a/c on high, so I was more consistently around 44 MPG. Not bad even at that! My high school twins cant wait to "inherit" this car next year. The only drawback has been that realistically, it only holds four adults comfortably, and the back seat can be a tight squeeze even then. Also, the sound system is good - but not great.
