This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

I been a chevy man since 73 but last year I traded my S10 blazer in for a Honda hybird civic. After 25 years of being a mech. and working on most makes and models I enjoy not having to work on my own, not only that but instead of filling up twice a week at about $30 or so for fuel now I fillup once every two weeks or so my average driving to work a day is 40 miles (one way) not only that but no tune-up till 110,000 miles and oil changs 2000 not any more now its 5000. The ride is more comfortable than most autos the same size. the only thing I dont like is I cant tow anything with it but Ill survive

  • Hybrid lives up to its MPG expectations - 2004 Honda Civic

Hybrid has lived up to its expectations for gas mileage. Instrumentation allows visual information to driver about inttantaneous and average MPG. Excellent mileage both in city, out in country, even in the mountains.Tows well behind motor home. MPG stays between 40- 50 MPG on all conditions with driver care to use information to adjust driving habits. Fun to drive knowing what MPG always is!!! Especially at $2.00 /gal gas. A new definition of performance for a car--economy,low pollution as well as safety and performance. It is a car I am proud to own and drive!!!

  • Honda Has Made a Real Winner - 2004 Honda Civic

It may not be the coolest car or the best looking, but the 2004 Civic is still a winner. We have consistantly gotten between 35 and 45 miles per gallon (that is a mix between city/highway driving too) The interior fit and finish is great and the manufacturer has made good use of space. The ride is exceptionally comfortable and doesnt punish the occupents. Leg room up front is great, though in the back its a little tight. While the Civic may be expensive on this end, the cost is obviously justified in the high fuel economy it gets and the pristine reliability.

  • Amazing Car - 2004 Honda Civic

Wow this car is great. Ive had it for almost a year now and love it. Its not a sports car but it doesnt drive like an economy car either. The gas milage is great. I get an average of 32 mpg, with mixed driving. More room than I would have expected. Im 63" and can still drive comfortably. The trunk space is also larger than expected.

  • Honda Civic Hybrid still evolving - 2004 Honda Civic

Overall, I really like the car but it is a basic, no-frills vehicle. The interior is plastic, not leather, which scratches easily. The wind noise, when the back windows are down on the interstate, is deafening. The best fuel mileage has been 40 mpg (we average about 37 mpg), which is less than the 60 mpg fuel efficiency indicated on the dealer invoice. There is a blind spot with the side mirrors - a safety problem in highway traffic. The dealership indicated the brakes are half worn at 12,000 miles - I dont ride my brakes so not certain if it is due to an audible popping noise. Service department trips have been very time consuming and frustrating.

  • The perfect car? - 2004 Honda Civic

This is not a Porsche nor is it a Cadillac. But my Civic thinks its both. For under $17K this is by far the best vehicle for your money. From smooth styling to great handling and power my civic covers all the bases. Honda reliability is second to none in this class and the gas milage is awesome especially in todays economy. I looked at all the cars in this class, the Jetta, Corrola, Sentra and Elantra and every time I found myself comparing them to the Civic EX. Do yourself a favor and give it a spin, you will not be disapointed.

  • Great Car - 2004 Honda Civic

Great car to buy new and own for fifteen years. If you dont mind a two door car--in this class of cars, the Honda cannot be beat. It hardly depreciates in value--it rides much more smoothly than ever before. The Value Package is perfect--no need to spend thousands more for unecessary automatic this and that. In silver with a dark grey interior--the car looks as cool as anything else on the road (save a BMW). The new body type is terrific-- with great rear lights. Sporty and fun to drive with built in CD player. Fantastic gas mileage!!! Trunk is significantly bigger than before.

  • Less money on gas, obviously...Dah!!! - 2004 Honda Civic

Great car sofar! I orginally got this car for my wife and she is loving it as well. She drives it more than I do, but when I get a chance I am all over it. Overall, I like the way it handles. At first, it didnt seem like it was utilizing the battery power mentioned at the dealer, but as time goes on, on refueling the mileage appears to be getting better each time. I love this car!!!

  • better than expected - 2004 Honda Civic

I have had this car 6 weeks and have been nothing short of impressed. After the initial break-in period of about 2000 miles and getting used to the feel of it . The power is more than adequet and fuel economy is 43 -44 mostly distance driving . The handeling is most impressive as well as comfort and ease of reading gagues . Give this car a drive and you too will see its value . Looking forward to see whats next .
