Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Mourning my little Civic - 1997 Honda Civic
By I miss my little car - August 28 - 10:20 pmI recently totalled my little hatch. I blew a front tire going downhill on the freeway and hit a concrete retaining wall doing about 65 mph. My passenger and I walked away shaken, but unscathed. Im so sad! That car was my little buddy! It may not have been a fancy car, but it was reliable, fun, and above all, safe. Im buying another Civic with the money I get for my car...but I really just want the one I had. It was great!

This is a GREAT car. - 2007 Honda Civic
By 1st Time Honda Buyer - August 27 - 1:20 pmThis is my first Honda. Purchased the 07 Civic EX w/ Navi about 2 weeks ago. Have loved every second I spend behind the wheel. Just took the little 4 cyl into the Blue Ridge mountains, and it performed admirably. The redesign Honda has done on the Civics is beautiful. Plenty of room in the front seats for adults, back seat is fine for kids. The NAVI system is AWESOME! It has already paid for itself! XM sounds great, moon roof works smooth. Steering is precise, braking is tight. Acceleration leaves a bit to be desired, but is compensated for by gas mileage. Golf clubs fit easily in the trunk. I really, really love this car. Its size is perfect and its fun and easy to drive.

95000 miles still going strong - 1999 Honda Civic
By civicdriver - August 26 - 5:15 pmI wanted to give a quick 6 year follow up on my 99 ex coupe Civic. This has been a great car, with very little routine maintenance it has not given me one problem. I bought this car new with 6 miles on it and have driven it as a daily commuter since. I got 45,000 miles out of the original tires, and have 50,000 on the current ones. It still rides good, shifts smooth(5 spd.), and all the electronics still work well. Still getting close to 40 MPG. Overall this has been, and still is a great car.

Nice Cars - 1998 Honda Civic
By Travis Swift - August 25 - 10:00 amI got my car as a present from my parents on my birthday last year. It has been a great car, and--excluding the lack of power--has a sporty feel to it. My car is one of the few with a problem, so I get poor gas milage (only about 24 city driving)

My First Honda - 2007 Honda Civic
By Sam S. - August 25 - 2:26 amThis car is worth every penny. Ive been driving BMWs for 21 years and love them but I needed a commuter car for work and shopping so I chose the new 07 Civic EX Sedan. It had most of the options I wanted for sub $20k. despite its soft built quality in comparison to the Solid BMWs, I still think that this car deserves mostly 10s. Again, its the perfect third car for chores and day to day driving.

Honda (The Best Car Ever)! - 1998 Honda Civic
By Ghaith - August 24 - 9:25 amIts been almost one year since Ive sold my 1996 BMW 318 and bought my 1998 Honda Civic, when it comes to performance and reliability I think the Honda is much better than the BMW from my own experience, Im 6.6 ft and I feel much comfortable in the Honda. Gas milage is unbeatable with a Civic, and maintenance is extremly low compared to other cars and it looks great.

Honda EX - 1994 Honda Civic
By sufurair - August 22 - 9:14 pmA great car. At 128k miles, things are supposed to break even though it is a Honda. Other than that, great gas mileage for the year and fun to drive. Could use some more cockpit storage space.

great car - 2007 Honda Civic
By Keith - August 22 - 8:10 pmThis is an excellent car. No doubt about it, Honda knows what theyre doing with this car, well thought out and put together well. Very comfortable car to drive, easy handling, and supportive seats. A little road noise, but for a small car it is refined in so many other ways, who cares. Open the sunroof, and turn on the tunes. Also, the back seat is tight getting in and out of this coupe, but hey Im driving so to bad for those back seat drivers. Economical on gas, and oil changes every 3000 miles, never a problem with this car. Owned almost a year now. Its a cool car, no regrets here.

Transmission noise - 1999 Honda Civic
By Greg - August 21 - 5:21 pmOnly problems have been a cracked manifold (Honda has an extended warrenty for this and will replace for free) and whining gear noise from tranmission. It developed this after 70K miles and it seems to be getting worse. No maintenance other than scheduled maintence required except manifold.

Cross-country Gas Miser - 2004 Honda Civic
By P. Arthur Smith - August 21 - 2:00 pmI recently took an 8,850 mile business trip. I carried about 200 pounds of luggage, and up to 300 pounds of boxed materials. I weigh about 210. I averaged 46.5 MPG, and had two tanks through at over 60 MPG. About 2/3 of the trip was on the freeway, and 1/3 in crowded two-lane traffic. There was absolutely no drama in the drive. I dodged aggressive drivers and dead animals. I drove in desert heat, Rocky Mountain cold and driving Okla-Texas rain. No problem. It is a lightweight and I had to constantly pay attention to keep it from jittering around. The acceleration is good and it maintains freeway speed. The Honda dealership is providing r
