Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Bought this unit from my Mom when I was 19 years old and drove for 8 years with few problems. Great car to get through college as it looked good for its time, could get up and go and was still cheap to run and had good fuel economy. Finally sold with 209,000 miles as it was going to need its third clutch and possibly new valve guides and still got $2300 for it and upgraded to a 1998 Prelude. These cars are very popular to tuners and fetch strong money consider new it was around $10,000 new 11 years earlier.

Ive only had this car for about three weeks, and I just love it! I bought mine in the "atomic blue" color and have recieved several compliments on it. I like that the drivers set can raise up and down (my boyfriend is MUCH taller than I), and the bright, digital dash. I compared this to the Corolla and the Saturn Ion, and the Civic is in a great class of its own. I cant wait to have this car for the next 20 years!

I traded an Infiniti G35 coupe for this car, so I went from the sublime to the less-than-sublime. However, I quickly found that this little Honda is a lot of fun to drive, plus it gets great gas mileage without much effort on my part. In a mixture of town/highway driving recently, I got right at 31 mpg; in the Infiniti I would have been doing good to get 20 for the same driving. Of course, the Civic has exactly half the horsepower of the Infiniti. I actually find that the seats are more comfortable in the Civic, and, wonder of wonders, it doesnt have any rattles. That was one thing that bugged me about the Infiniti. Bottom line: Driving green can be fun, if you own a Honda Civic, that is.

Heres the list since I purchased it...4 front struts, 1 transmission, 3 wheel bearings, trunk release, 1 alternator, cd player overheats, enough rust on the brake rotor to rub on the wheel well covers,...and now every indicator light on the dash go on and off...while driving. Wish I had a big bottle of tequila to go with this lemon

One thing that no one mentions about this car is that you cannot roll the back window down because you get this tunneling effect. By this I mean, the wind is going through the car and you feel like you are going through a tunnel, your ears seem stopped up, the noise is really bad. Now that I have taken it to the dealership, they tell me that if you roll down another window - it eases the noise. That is not true because I tried that already. The cup holder does not come out so it is a pain to wash. The car runs great and I love the savings on the gas - especially now that prices have gone up.

  • I love my AMERICAN built Honda - 2002 Honda Civic

While there are a few features of the Civic that still need refining overall I think youll find that this is a great car for the money. I didnt buy the car to get rid of it I bought it because I knew it would be reliable and last a LONG TIME. Has it been reliable? At 67,000 miles performance is nothing less than flawless. My fuel economy is outstanding even with slight motor modification (40mpg hwy). Im amazed at the lack of maintainance this thing requires - it just keeps going. The improvement suggestions below are significant but overly picky when you consider the price of the car.

This has been a fantastic vehicle. I am a single working mom with one child and this car has been GREAT. The price was perfect and the fuel economy helps my pocket book tramendously. Not to mention the style and comfort of the vehicle. I need room but I am also single and still want to have fun. I could not have made a better choice on a vehicle.

  • Excellent summer car - 2008 Honda Civic

Overall we love our Honda Civic. It has been a good durable car that is good on gas mileage. However, for those of you who live in frigid areas... buyer beware. From groggy starts to a slowly warming engine to poor traction on ice and snow... winter will be a bit of a challenge.

  • Started Up EVERY Time, No Trouble Car - 1999 Honda Civic

I actually leased this vehicle, and a better symbol of reliability I have not seen. Started up every single time (summer or winter) and never ever had any problems. The car is not made for luxury by any means, but if you need a quick commute car, this is it! Also, Im 63" and I fit in no probs!

  • LX to EX - 2002 Honda Civic

Great Car! I bought mine 3 days ago. After driving a 98 LX for a year, I finally decided to upgrade to a 2002 EX. I immediately noticed a major difference in performance, handling and interior/exterior styling and detail. 200 miles and not a single problem yet. Its a HONDA so I shouldnt be surprised, or expecting any soon. I absolutely love my civic!
