This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

The Honda Civic is a great vehicle to own. It has great handling, performance and comfort. Although, it could use a little more horsepower.

  • nice car for the money - 2004 Honda Civic

Great gas mileage. I was going to get a VW TDI Jetta, waaaaay too much $$$. I paid 12200 for my Civic with only a few options. Even at 2$ a gallon it would take me 10 years to make of the difference in price. I test drove the Jetta, It wasnt that powerful of a car. Think twice before you are willing to fork over the extra cash. I also drove the Toyota Corolla, and Focus. The Focus remided me of my of another Ford great, the Pinto. They wanted 16k for it! Overall I liked the style of the jetta little more, it wasnt worth the extra $. The Civic also did very well in crash tests.

I own a 2003 Honda Civic DX, and I love it. It handles great and is so fun to drive. It has a great new design on the outside and the inside is comfortable. It is nice and quiet and is a pleasure to drive.

I mentioned my AC had no freon in my prior review, my car is now 3 months old and has visited the dealer one too many times. Turns out after 2 trips to service and a nasty letter to Customer Service, my car was kept at the dealers for an AC investigation (3 times). Turns out there was a leak. They say they fixed it, lets hope so. I would hate to associate "Lemon with Honda".

I WAS LOOKING FOR A GAS SAVER AND FIRST SAT IN AN EX CIVIC NOT MUCH HEAD ROOM THE SALESMAN SHOWED ME THE SI. IT FEELS VERY ROOMY FOR ITS SIZE. THE SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED AS ABOUT A SMALL CAR AS IM A BIG GUY AT 250LBS. TO TRY OUT ITS POWER I PUT MY FAMILY IN THE CAR TWO ADULTS & 3 KIDS IN BACK, WOW PLENTY OF POWER. I WILL NEVER SIT IN THE BACK SO IM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE ROOM IN THE BACK SEAT. THE INTERIOR FEATURES COULD BE A LITTLE BETTER. VERY GOOD VISIABILITY THIS IS A GREAT FUN CAR TO DRIVES

  • Comment of Canadian Acure EL equivalent - 2004 Honda Civic

In Canada, Honda markets a very high ned Civic called the Acura EL. This is like the EX model sold in the U.S.A. with 4-wheel disk breaks and side air bags. It is a good car, trouble free, fun to drive and economical. The only downside is soem dumbing down in amenities. My last car, an 86 Accord, had subjectively higher build quality touches like dooe bottom-mounted door- opening lights, better fitted carpeting in the trunck, object-holding compartments on the dash and more real fabric on the doors.

  • The car of the near future - 2004 Honda Civic

Its a little car but its quiet, fun, peppy, and the economy is a thumb in the eye to the oil companies. The Honda quality is evident though we have a bit of a dash rattle. The two anti-theft systems got us an insurance break. The car asks nothing special of you but beware that its built for economy and not tire-shredding takeoffs. We routinely get better than 55 mpg in town and 48+ on the highway, better than the EPA numbers and better now than when brand new (10,400 miles ago). This is a CVT which "outmileages" the manual by a bit.

This is the second Civic Ive owned and I dont think Ill ever own a different car. When it comes down to it, anything I ever need to take with me fits in it. Its so versatile I can use it for everything, easy off road trails, highway driving, or city driving.
