Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This car is great for the buy. If youre looking for something that can holds its own ground, do yourself a favor and buy this car. Of course its no BMW M3 but this car has its qualities of its own. The manual transmission rocks, and the engine is OK. I added a cold air intake on mine and it flies. Handling is good and gets a bunch better after I got some 17" TSW wheels and racing tires. Tons of fun and looks pretty sweet.

  • Not as good as I thought it would be - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

A previous Toyota owner. Bought brand new. Driven for almost 5 years. Consideing its a small car, accelation and braking is fine and spacious inside. Easy and simple to use inside layout. Check engine light came on and off and stayed on. Turned out a major tranny(torque converter) problem covered under warranty, which would have cost close to 2K at dealer. Squeaky noises from suspensions on and off. Driving is very bouncy(No. I dont mean smooth here. still felt every bump, though. whats up with this?) but straight. Rattles from behind somewhere on and off. MPG is not as good as advertised. Overall decent but not excellent. Honda reliablity and sporty driving. None there with this Civic.

  • Excellent Choice - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car in 2003 with 36K miles on it. I have put 20K miles on it and the car has been great so far. The fuel economy and reliability are outstanding!! I get 33 miles/gal during winter and 36 during summers. I drive 75% of the time on highways. If you are looking for a great car with great mileage in this time where gas prices are high, this is it! The best alternative to an hybrid, that costs less to buy and maintain.

  • Awsome car - 2012 Honda Civic

I loved it! i bought the car when i was 18 which was 4 years ago. i had no problems with it whatsoever!! my only complaint was the space, front seat and backseat were too small but then again i am 58 and Ive had a kid since then. Was great on gas and i live about 30 minutes away from town i would fill up about once a week if not less. i absolutely never had a problem. i loved it. I no longer have it because it was totaled in an accident.

  • Great to lease ! - 2013 Honda Civic

We leased this Civic because it was a true ZERO down w/ low nimbly payments. I would not buy a vehicle that the manufacturer has confidence in for only 3 years or 36,000 miles. Hyundai, Kia, Buick, and others have a 5 year or 50,000 bumper to bumper warranty. Honda needs to step up. Problem with the car: cheap tires that wore out in 24,000 miles...not at all what a lease customer hopes for.

  • Clear Coat Peeling All Over Car, Cheap Interior - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my Si new in Figi Blue, and about 1 year ago the clear coat began peeling in sheets. Honda will only pay 25% of an estimated $6K paint job to make this situation right. The car only has 55K miles on it, and I always took very good care of it. This is unacceptable that a car known for its longevity looks like a clunker at just over 9 years old. Honda knew there was a paint defect as they extended the paint warranty, but because I contacted them outside of this window they will do nothing to fix it. Also, the visors have both cracked, the luggage hooks are broken, and the seals are starting to peel up. I will never buy another Honda again, and I will certainly tell anyone I talk to that they shouldnt either.

  • Wonderful Car - 2002 Honda Civic

Just because you drive an economy car doesnt mean you have to settle for a sub par vehicle. Civic gives me a good fun ride with better handling than any economy car I have ever drove. Hint - get the 5 speed manual transmission, provides a lot more get up than the automatic.

  • The thieves like it too! - 2002 Honda Civic

The car is great. It looks good, there are several aftermarket products to choose from, and its economical. Ive installed an aftermarket stereo, wheels (17"), tires, and the best damn alarm system you can buy. Thieves love this car. My car has been broken into twice since I purchased. (AIG insurance is the best!!). GET AN ALARM!
