Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Fantastic redesign - 2006 Honda Civic

The 8th generation of Civic is fabulous. My LX Sedan feels like its worth thousands more than I paid for it. Perhaps its due to the size increase or the quality of the interior materials Honda used, but I feel like Im driving an Accord. The acceleration is steady and smooth and of course a bit quicker than the 7th generation due to the increased power from the new 1.8 i-VTEC. It feels like it has a bit more torque than a Honda engine should as well. Safety features were a big deciding factor in my purchase decision, this year all Civics come standard with side and curtin airbags and ABS. Not many economy sedans offer this in this price range. A bargain Honda? Maybe the first!

  • Amazing ride! - 2008 Honda Civic

I have loved every moment of driving this car. Ive only had it for a few days or so and its been an amazing experience. Im a college student who commutes and works at a hospital and its been amazing. No problems yet and I dont expect any with a Honda.

  • Great Value - 2003 Honda Civic

The car is a great value balancing performance with gas milage. I average 32-36 miles per gallon and have found the car to perform well even above 75 mph. The areas I found most disappointing were the acceleration and steering. I would have gladly traded a few miles per gallon for for pickup and tighter steering.

Car keeps going and going. Fuel economy is not as good over the years but can has never let me down in 7 years. Body cant keep up with engine, will begin to rust especially behing the rear wheels (defect on many Honda models)

  • Hybrid-no high MPG - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I just bought a new Civic Hybrid 07 - I have purchased three tanks of gas and calculated actual miles driven with gallons of gas and got 29 mpg, 29 mpg and 28 mpg; not impressive. The whole purpose of the purchase was to get excellent MPG- the dealer quoted 40 city and 60 highway - I do city driving and am nowhere close. Beaverton Honda says the engine has to break in at about 2000 miles I have 900 miles now on the car. I am very disappointed. I did not even question that the actual MPG would be soooo far off from the sticker advertisement. I am sure Honda Corporation would be interested in my comments. So much for going GREEN!--I got ripped off!!!

I just bought recently my 2008 Honda Civic LXi 1.8 just one week. The best qualities that I like on this car is fuel cunsumption, space, comfort, and the power of the engine is like 2.0 liter.

  • 45+ MPG HWY - 2007 Honda Civic

This is a great little car, and when traveling across the state of Florida, I always get at least 45 MPG, sometimes even slightly better than that. Its also sharp-looking for a Civic. Im happy with my purchase.

  • The first car Ive ever loved - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

The first car Ive ever loved! This is a fantastic car for the money. Looks and feels so much more expensive than it is. Its beautiful inside and out. Mine is cosmic blue which I think gives it a really rich look. I love the center console design, its very comfortable and has a ton of room for storage. The interior looks and feels of high quality which was unexpected for a car in this price range . The turbo is a really nice feature. Believe me when I say that when you step on the gas this car really goes. I have no doubt Im going to get my first speeding ticket in this car. Its super fun to drive. Excellent safety features and the technology is great. Ive had no problems with it so far and Im at 1600 miles. Great on gas too. I cant say enough good things about this civic. I have a feeling that this is the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship!

  • Waynes Honda - 2001 Honda Civic

Good car to drive and good mileage. Very poor quality. Power window doesnt work, front strut failed at 46,000. Front bearing went out at 47000. Rear defroster doesnt work. Front air dam keeps falling off.
