Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Love it, love it, love it! I purchased my 98 Civic EX coupe in 97 and its been the most reliable car Ive ever owned. 55k and the only thing that I had replaced was a altenator, which they fixed promptly. My husband likes to drive it and fits comfortably in it (hes 64). Were thinking about having kids, so we might look into something a little bigger. But I just cant part with my Civic. Well DEFINATLY stick with Honda, maybe well go to a 4dr or if I have it my way... an Accord. :)

This is the best car that I have ever bought it has over 100,000 miles and it still drives like new! It requires minimum maintenance while at the same time giving the driver excellent fuel economy and performance! And oh yeah it was also rated the best looking car in its class!

  • You Have Got To Love This Civic - 2002 Honda Civic

I love my Civic. It has had absolutely no problems and has run flawlessly. Love the style and the amenities that come in the EX model, like the moonroof and the A/C buttons. It has a powerful A/C that gets really cold and a super powerful heater. Tons of trunk room and is definitely built for 2, not 4 people. You can do it, but I wouldnt advise it.

I purchased my civic used and it has been a charmer. No problems and has not been in the shop since I got it. I have had other Hondas and find them to be very reliable cars.

Fantastic vehicle! I bought this with 164,000 miles on it and youd never know it by the way it runs. Heck, the interior looks practically brand new! The paint hasnt held up too well, but it is 11 years old. It is a fun car to drive with plenty of pep with a 5-speed. Also, I think this generation Civic is the best looking. Im 66", so its a bit tight, but not too uncomfortable. Lots of legroom helps, but the seats dont support my back too well. Small price to pay for 43 mpg (not running AC), though! I foresee many more enjoyable miles with my new best friend.

  • Its all show, no go - 2007 Honda Civic

This car lacks power. You have to really "drive it like you hate it" to keep up with traffic. Most of its power is reserved at 6000 to 8000 rpm. Who wants to thrash their car trying to keep up with a mini-van or a truck. This car is an economy car without getting good mileage or a cheap price. The six-speed tranny shifts good, but in this car with its lack of torque, you are shifting every few seconds. It is loud inside the car too. I find myself saying “what” a lot while on the freeway. I have had the car less than a month and the seats are a magnet for lint and dirt. The paint seems to scratch very easily. The car rides like it has not shocks.

  • Great car for fuel economy alone!! - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car for the fuel economy and so far its great!! I get about 34 mpg city and close to 40 mpg on the highway. The car runs smooth at high speeds and is fun in the turns for a compact car at this price!! I would only get the 5 spd, I drove the auto and its not the best tranny for a car with a 1.7 liter engine... Hope this review helps!! I also got mine for 13000.00 out the door!! What a deal for a car with air, center console and CD!!

The 05 model is a refinement over the already excellent 99. It is comfortable, fit and finish is excellent, and has good power for an automatic. I am very pleased with my 2005 Honda Civic EX sedan.
