I traded my 04 XLT Explorer for better gas mileage in the Honda. Its a great car for 1-2 med. adults & 1-2 small children.Great for running to the store on short trips.Coming from the room of the Explorer it is a "cute" box on wheels.More than 2 adults and 1-2 small children, you are cramped! Not much leg room in the back seat.Large trunk is great, just dont think you can buy all the same stuff you did if you had a larger vehicle, you will be sorry. This car is not for people with back problems..stick to the ones with the lumbar included. It is a compact car, great gas mileage and realiabilty, fun to drive for 1 person, but for comfort and room, NOPE!Keep a nice SUV for comfort and long trips!!

This is the sixth Honda (3rd Civic) weve owned, and they just keep getting better, cheaper to maintain and more reliable as time goes on. This one is fun to drive, handles very well and has fit/finish of a car twice as expensive.

  • Fun Plus Economy - 2005 Honda Civic

This car does get the advertised economy. We have averaged 46.7 MPG for 21k miles. Trips often are 50+. The car is comfortable, agile, and peppy, assuming you are in the right gear. Manual shifts well, clutch is great. Instruments are clear and the MPG bars give you something extra to watch in boring traffic. I have only two complaints. First the back seat wont fold down. Second, they should have a hatchback version for versitility plus economy. All in all, a great car.

  • Honda Woes - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought this Hybrid only becaue I thought the Toyota Prius was ugly. Well I had it for a few months and I like it. I received a recall letter from Honda claiming the hybrids computer software was defective and needed to be updated. I took it to my dealer and when they applied the update the computer crashed. My hybrid has been dead at the dealer for 15 days now while I wait for Honda to locate a replacement computer. I consider this service unacceptable and I feel that Honda should have shipped a new computer to my dealer immediately after then found out a new car they sold was dead due to a recall "fix". I should have bought the Prius. I am very disappointed with Hondas lack of concern.

  • Value for money & fun to drive - 2005 Honda Civic

The Civic Hybrid is quite a remarkable car. I switched from a Mercedes to this one because I wanted a low operating cost vehicle. I was driving an 87 Mercedes 190E (ancestor of C230). The interior room of the Civic is pretty much the same as was in my 190. Seats are firm and comfortable. The car is very quiet, and also a lot of fun to drive. Its got a good amount of low end kick from the electric motor, and since the gas engine is very small its also very smooth & quiet. Gas mileage is in the upper 40s so far. Audio is not that great.

  • Disappointing - 2005 Honda Civic

The car is suppose to be most efficient in the city. However, the hybrid doesnt perform any better than a non-hybrid civic. It averages 34-35 mpg when it is rated at 48/47 mpg. A very annoying feature is the air conditioning. Living in the south, we really need a strong air conditioner, however, the hybrid shuts down when you are stopped. This is to save gas, but the air conditioner also shuts down and temperatures in the car can be unbearable if you are stopped for long! For the price that I paid for the car, I could have purchased a much more luxurious vehicle with more bells and whistles and just slightly lower gas mileage. Hold out for a Prius!

  • Great Car!! - 2005 Honda Civic

Hey, awesome gas mileage, low insurance rates and Hondas excellent reputation. I couldnt go wrong. Its speedy enough, handles corners well (especially when compared to my old Xterra) and is just fun to drive. Comfortable all the way.

  • Great for city driving - 2005 Honda Civic

I previously owned a V6 Accord but with fuel prices so high and my fuel economy so low it was time for a change. The switch to the (ULEV)Civic was the best move I could have made. It has all the features I expect along with great fuel economy (Sorry large truck and SUV folks 12 hwy/8 city is NOT good gas mileage) and is very quiet to drive both in town and on the highway. Im saving about $15-20 per week on gas vs. the Accord so far and have never looked back. So if you need a great small sedan to zip around town or for those weekend getaways I would highly recommend this car.

  • Honda is a pretty good car - 2005 Honda Civic

We have looked at new cars for about a year and I already knew when I looked at a Honda that we would purchase one. I have never bought a Honda car but have five Honda ATV,s and Two Honda Offroad motor cycles that have lasted forever. I was a 25 year Ford and Lincoln customer and there ok but not like Hondas. Ford and Lincoln have better and more dealerships to deal with. They have just forgotten how to build cars over SUVs. I am still worried about being run over by a SUV with someone on a cell phone. 8000 miles and no problems and still tight. If you need a small car, this is the best I think. Now I need a new 7000 lb SUV for 2005 to help support oil companys.
