Overview & Reviews
In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
- Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

The Americanized Civic - 2004 Honda Civic
By Tim Matthews - September 20 - 10:00 amCheap materials, Americanized content, mediocre capabilities...not what Honda is known for. This is a harsh-riding little car. The door fabric has come loose from its glue, the clutch creaks at each pressing, door mats had heel holes after 4k miles, hard plastics everywhere you touch, no tint-strip at top of windshield, no lock on glovebox, thin sheet metal, poor sound insulation, pathetic engine performance, but very good fuel economy. I should have bought a used Accord instead. A Toyota is going to be my next purchase after my 4th and last Honda.

Good Car - Lousy Service - 2004 Honda Civic
By hayn - August 9 - 10:00 amNo complaints about the car. Its everything I expected - easy to drive, good gas mileage, very well built. However the car was not cleaned properly. I took the car at night, did not do a good inspection. I returned to have an alarm installed and showed the salesman the dirty windows and wheel wells. Guess what? They didnt clean it up, in fact they didnt even rewash the car after installing the alarm. I will not go back to this dealer - Winward Honda, when its time to buy another car. With two other dealers in town, youd think theyd provide better service.

Great Car - 2004 Honda Civic
By ASKIP - July 14 - 2:00 amJust trade 98 Accord EX-VL, worried about pick up. Manual is great to drive, I love this car, and I shouldnt have worried about the power. This little car screams.

all out great car - 2004 Honda Civic
By BiGJoKeR836 - July 4 - 6:30 pmI bought the LX because it doesnt have the V-tech engine. (I plan on throwing the 2.4 out of a CRV under the hood) Its a great car. Everything you do to the engine adds power. I definitely recommend this car to anybody. Whether you wanna make it fast like me or just drive it to work in the morning.

Gas mileage way below expected - 2004 Honda Civic
By Margaret Sazani - July 3 - 10:00 amThis car is advertised at 47/48 mpg. I have had the car for 9 months now and have 8,000 miles on it, and still only get 39 mpg. I am very very disappointed in this performance. The dealer says its because there are lots of hills in this area and I drive it too fast. I think the advertised mpg should NOT be based on performance on flat terrain at slow speeds. So I am not at all happy with the cars performance in this area.

Focus!? What Focus? - 2004 Honda Civic
By honda4evr - July 3 - 10:00 amThis is my second brand new car ever. My previous one was a 2002 Ford Focus LX. My new Honda seems more like a 2040 vs a 2004 when compared to the Focus. It drives better, handles quicker, MUCH better gas mileage (in town about 35-36MPG) and you cant beat 2.9% APR for 60 months! ;)
