Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • They dont make em like they used to - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Have had to bring it in to the dealer 5xs for defects. Received the car with a scratched lense on the tachometer (from the inside). The back windshield would pop-out whenever I closed the back door. The seat belt sensor on the passenger side was defective and they had to change a computer in the dashboard. They recalled it because the accelator woudl get stuck, and NOW the passenger door handle came off when simply opening the door.(I never even use that side).

I have 6500mi on the car now. Most people regret new car purchases but not with this car. I upgraded from an 02 Honda Civic Ex w/ 40,000mi. If you are serious about this car and you find one thats not already sold, go for it. You will not be disappointed

  • Finally, a place to praise her! - 1992 Honda Civic
    By -

Purchasing her was a nightmare, but owning her is a dream. This car has seen: 5 roundtrip treks from Chicago to L.A., plowed through 2 ft deep snow (clearing a path for a Blazer for 4 miles), ran into the side of a mountain (friend borrowed her), carried everything I owned as a bachelor, beats camaros through intersections (then loses a block later, lol), looks great, runs better, and is still ready for more. I realize no one will probably see this because of the year, but she is worth the effort to type a few words of praise. I will look back on the time i owned her, and smile. I will always compare future cars to her. My children will drive Civic HBs as their startup cars if I can convince them.

  • Bring Back The Economical Hatchbacks! - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had this car since 1997, and the previous owner was going to do an engine swap, but I stopped him by offering a reasonable amount of money. I can tell you that I do not regret buying this car at all. I love how people with gas-guzzling SUVs get surprised at how much this car can carry. Since now, it has been trouble free, and it is very simple and cheap to maintain. Seats are still comfortable. Its environment friendly. I even sold my 97 BMW M3 just to keep my Civic VX. It may not be as fast, but id rather have a safer, reliable, cleaner, more fuel economical car that promises to start every time you turn the key!

  • CIVIC LX SEDAN - 1999 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had Civic LX sedan for the past 6 years and have no complaints. The engine runs like champ, transmission still going strong. The Civic is a great commuter car , that gets great gas mileage, easy to park, etc. The Japanese know how to make cars.

  • Great Until Transmission Went Out - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car new. Automatic. No problems at all until transmission went out at 86,000 miles. Will cost me $2600 to replace with a used transmission with 46,000 miles on it. Ouch! What a surprise! My car before this, a 1991 Honda Accord, had 230,000 on it when I got rid of it and no transmission trouble. My next car will be another Honda Accord.

  • Honda Civic Not the Car Id Hoped! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Bought the Civic after family members had great experiences with older Civics & Accords. Thought Id get a great car and save $$ on gas & ownership costs. After commuting with it daily for about a week, the odd angle of the gas pedal drove me nuts! Repositioning the seat has never helped. On long drives the seats get uncomfortable quickly. Also, living in MI, Ive had to resort to driving my husbands truck if theres any sort of snow or even heavy rain! All 4 tires replaced at 25K (!)but made no difference! Id never had an accident, but while driving in snow around a curve at 15mph I slid right off the road! Visibility is very poor due to side window columns!Hate to lose $ but trading it in!

  • What a great car - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

Since I owned this car, I put a total of 650.00 into repairs (brakes & tires) This is one GREAT car. Never lets me down and does not need a lot of maint. Thanks GOD, the car is lucky if I remember to put oil in it. This car is so much fun to drive. Even my friends ask to drive it. I have been told that this car will run for 200,000 + miles. This is my first honda and I am looking to get another, if something should ever happen to his one.

  • Why I cant sell my 2000 Civic Si Coupe - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

Honda really hit a nerve in the 1999-2000 Si Coupes. I will admit that I have done a few suspension tweaks to the rear, upper rear tower brace, and lower rear tie bar. Sportline springs, and opened up the lungs of this little race car with a cold air intake, 4-2-1 header, and cat back exhaust. Short throw shifter, Sorry Honda, 5th gear had me scraping my knuckles on the glove box. Oh and the front seats belong in a Buick. Overall evaluation is that this is still one of the greatest little cars of all time, it makes me smile every time I drive it, and with my specs added is the perfect ticket getter for me.

  • Never wanted a Honda - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I never wanted to buy a honda before, but after the new design of the 06 I had to take a test drive and look from the inside out. The new design and motor is what made me buy this car, also the fact that I was driving a 2005 F-150. Gas is not cheap as we all can see. Honda had been around many generations and that says a lot for a car and their company. I do love my Honda Civic LX 2006.
