Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • My Civic, "TIMMY" - 2001 Honda Civic

I love my civic, but it does have a few "flaws", such as the horrible shaking of the steering wheel when it gets to about 60 mph, i thought it was the tires or something, so i got them balanced and rotated and my car aligned, but no better. SRS light came on, because the seat belt buckle is going out, and i wish it had a little more "omph", kind of sluggish from the get-go, but once that VTEC kicks in,its on!

  • Great car, my second Civic - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

This generation Civic is the best to date. I owned a 1996 Civic for just over 12 years; I loved it before the wreck. I was just shy of 240,000 miles. My 2008 Civic is even better, more refined, comfortable, powerful and better looking. And most of all still have all the attributes that loved about my first Civic. To anyone who has driven other small cars in this class, its the best. To those who are down grading from cars like a BMW 3 series, come on, this is a Civic and goes for 20 grand less, dont compare.

  • LOVE OUR CIVIC - 2001 Honda Civic

We have nothing but great things to say about this car. It is reliable, sporty, quick and efficient.

The car drove like any other car except I saved LOTS of money.

  • Too Much For No Power - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my Civic just over a month ago and have put about 1600 miles on it already. Initially, I was impressed by the look of the car. Nice design, and you know Hondas are reliable. However, after I was able to really get into the car and drive it for a good bit, it became very disappointed. Honda could have done a lot more to make you feel like youre driving a top of the line Civic. There is nothing better about this than any other Civic. The VTEC is way over rated and under powered. I am disappointed in this car and will probably not buy another one ever again. It is good for a commute I would guess, but my job is only about a mile away.

  • Solid Economy Car - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

Decided to try a Honda sedan after racking up over 235,000 miles on my 1993 Toyota pickup. Based on past performance and reliability, this looked like the perfect runner. I was not disappointed as the 1.7 is peppy when combined with the 5-speed--and gets about 30 mpg around town. All controls are easy to reach. Dash lights are great since you can adjust independently with and without the headlights on. Stereo is of excellent quality. Fold down seats are a bonus when extra room is needed for cargo. Suspension is solid and surprising-- doesnt feel like a typical subcompact. Front seats are slightly cramped but not uncomfortable. Seats have good support for long drives.

  • review for a 2000 vs 2002 EX sedan - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I am writing this review for a 2000 because I think the 2002 is way-worse. Honda modified the 2001/2002 model and cheapened the components (like replacing the double-wishbone suspension with cheap regulal one). So, if you want good deal, look for a low- mileage 2000 model. It is probably the most reliable Civic ever made.

  • Solid Zippy Car - 1997 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this solid, zippy car when it was already 2 years old at a peak used car value! It hasnt disappointed me. Guests enjoy the roomy backseat. I like the space-making features in front for coins, maps, sunglasses, etc. Hondas modern exterior tricks some to think my car is new. However, my brother bought an identical 98 which has a few more ergonomic features worth considering. I am trading it in because *my* needs changed; Im getting rid of the 2- door, 5-speed. But the value has remained. It will be a perfect twice- used car for someone else!

  • Much Better Than Expected - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Honda Civic Hybrid far exceeded my expectations. Its got a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride, excellent acceleration, and a different sort of "feel", -- hard to describe, you have to test drive it. It just doesnt feel like a small car, and sometimes doesnt feel like a car at all. For example, it NEVER shifts, or you can say it always shifts (the continuously variable trasmission), but you never feel anything.

  • Great, great Car!! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I am up to around 5000 miles in only a couple of months and really love this car. Perfect interior layout, good gas mileage (34-36 usually), 10,000 mile oil change, fun to drive and excellent safety rating. We also bought a CRV the same day and have equal sentiments with it.
