Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Disappointment - 2001 Honda Civic

I bought our Civic with high expectations. I love the engine and gearbox. The suspension is comfortable, although not a sporty as I would like. The car is roomy and enjoyable to drive. HOWEVER, the build quality is terrible - From the moment we got the car is needed a new radio, and a clunk in the front suspension still exists after 3 attempts to repair. The front seat has had three attempts at repairing it - the bushings fair after 6 months. Hmmm... what else - oh yes, the window regulator has been replaced, the engine computer reprogrammed to stop the car stalling... Not what I expected from a Honda - I am very disappointed

  • Not bad, not bad at all - 2007 Honda Civic

I may be a little more subjective in my review - I used to drive an S2000 before I bought my Si. I liked the Si cause it had some of the same feel - the steering wheel, the shift knob, the digi gauges. I definitely miss the power - its quick but it can be faster (i wish i could be at 60 mph in second). Fuel consumption is the same as my S2000! I thought Id get better MPG but I dont (it does have a bigger tank). The paint chips easily and I already had to replace the windshield due to a rock hitting it. Handling is impressive - so much so that it is quite comparable to the S2000. I wish this had HIDs!

  • Civic EX Coupe 2008 is a loser - 2008 Honda Civic

I have previously owned 2000 and 2004 Civic EX coupes and have loved them. My 2008 is a total letdown. It has the loudest, roughest ride of any car I have owned, including older Corvettes. The road noise is terrible. The entire car has been cheaply made. It seems loaded with plastic. Corners have been cut everywhere. It looks great from the outside, but thats the only positive about this car. The seats are too hard. The trunk requires forced slamming while the gas pedal has no tactile feedback. The sun visors are very stiff to use. The seat belt and directional noise chimes are much louder than my 2004. Actually irritating. The high beam indicator on the directional stick goes on too easily

I love the Royal blue (Aegean). Great gas mileage.

I read so many reviews on this car. Some bad and some good. But, I would like to offer my assessment. Be real to yourself when deciding which car to buy. Mine are 1) fuel economy 2) resale value 3) reliability 4) style 5) fun to drive. Honda Civic beat out Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla-S, and Nissan Sentra. So far, I avg 35 mpg with mix hwy/city driving. I am not a heavy foot pedal, so power is good enough. Its really fun to drive. Overall, I know I had made a right choice. :=))

  • Cool Car - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive had many Hondas, but I am especially pleased with my new silver Coupe EX. I just got it last week. It is cutting edge inside and out, fun to drive, and a great value. I got mine for only $17k plus destination charge and it is loaded with features. It looks, feels and drives like a car that would cost a lot more. Add to that the fact it delivers outstanding MPG. Honda wins again!

  • Best Car EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2008 Honda Civic

Forget the nay say! This car ROCKS!!! My Mom bought it for me as a gift when she found out she was terminal :-( I went from a 95 Taurus with 200K and rust up the doors to a 2008 Civic w only 12K! I love driving this car! Only complaint seems to be the gas mileage, way better than the American junk Taurus was, but not as good as my old Honda CRX. The stereo sounds best with really heavy metal like Slayer or WASP or Satyricon. On the highway this thing cruises with LOW ROAD NOISE despite others complaints, I dont get the "road noise" complaint maybe its cuz compared to my old heap this car is a Rolls Royce! Honda makes superior cars and I will drive this car for years. Thanx Mom! I love you!

Just hit the 10 year b-day of my 96 ex civic. I have 150,000 miles on it and it still runs beautifully.

  • Not What I Was Expecting - 2016 Honda Civic

Wasnt really shopping Honda and it was second to last on my list beating only Toyota (never). I shopped the coupe first. Although I am the primary driver of the vehicle and my seat position will never change it bothered me that none of the coupe models had power seats? Just odd? One more note to Honda on the seats, they could really use lower lumbar support! I purchased the sedan because it looked sporty enough and my kids fit in the back. I got a great deal and the price was right. Performance? I am an "mpg" fanatic so I keep the car in "Eco" mode most of the time and there is a noticeable turbo lag if you need to jump into or cut across traffic in a hurry. In a quick acceleration situation I highly suggest taking it out of Eco. The CVT transmission is something I need to get used to but I do not miss the bump of a automatic trans shift. Steering is a bit flat because you dont get a true feel of the car in turns. Safety is something I luckily have not had to test. I do feel like there is a bit of a blind spot in the drivers side mirror but this might be because I am used to driving full size pickups. Tech is okay. Nav is on your dime because it either uses google maps through Android Auto or Honda Link through your phones data. Phone USB port is in a weird place so I just leave the cord attached and there really is no good place to put your phone without it sliding in turns and stops (I put mine in the cup holder). BT connectivity has acted up twice but really no issues. Radio is okay with sound being a bit weak but I have not yet mastered the touch screen controls because I use it for commuting mostly. Reliability, no problems yet but it has only been a month. Value: I have not broken the car in yet but I am getting 32mpg in mixed driving and hoping for better. Warranty is the weakest point because 3/36 is not anything to brag about in a world of 6/60 and 10/100.
