Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great Gas Mileage - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

The 06 Civic is a great ride, and it gets incredible gas mileage. On the interstate I have gotten between 35 and 37 miles per gallon in the first 1,000 miles. I like the heads up type spedometer display. Makes it safer to drive, especially in heavy traffic.

  • Only Hondas for me - 1994 Honda Civic
    By -

I have purchased hondas for the last 10 years started with a CRX and then purchased a 93 cx hatch and then upgraded to a 94 si hatch. Si is the way to go fast, fun and a pleasure to drive. I just traded in my 02 honda civic ex for a 03 honda civic si hatch and I love it, love it, love it. All hondas get great gas mileage and have little to none repairs. Worth every penny!!!!!

  • Never again! - 2004 Honda Civic

This is my second Civic. I love my first one. This one is horrible. I had to have the fuel system replaced twice in the first 15,000 miles. The car does not handle as well and is unsteady around turns on the highway. I am commute over 100 miles round trip daily and dislike this vehicle most of the time. It is loud and the sluggish nothing like the one before this one. The only good part is the gas mileage which is in about high 30s in and out of the city. I will never buy Honda again as the company has been miserable to deal with and fixing stuff. My car is just one of many in the area that have had major problems with systems and gauges.

  • Owned Dozens, A SAVER and a KEEPER - 1996 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned dozens of cars. With 40+ miles to the gallon and perfect reliability for almost 40,000 of the roughest miles an avid driver can put on it. THIS CAR IS A KEEPER!! If you purchase this car for a kid, the commute, or the environment, I am willing to bet you will never regret the decision. Bought for 5,500. 35+ thousand miles later sold for 4,500 WOW.

  • Civic Si - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

Fantastic car. Only averages 28 mpg though. Beautiful from every angle inside & out. No mechanical problems at all. Stiff ride for Detroit roads. Great in the curves. Does 125 mph with ease. Super quality materials inside. Made in Europe. Great value at $17,200. Hondas hold their value great. Im already ahead of the depreciation curve after only 1.5 years.

  • Love my car! - 1999 Honda Civic

I was shocked when I realized that Ive been driving my car more than four years! I think this is the longest Ive ever driven a car, and I have no desire to part with it. I have had more maintenance troubles than other reviewers. Im on my third set of tires, my second tail-pipe, and have had to have the odometer replaced. Other than that, its just been routine maintenance. About the cup-holders when I bought my car, I thought the cupholders were useless, too. I purchased an insert from the dealer for just a few dollars and its made all the difference. I hope this is helpful.

  • Great little car! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Awesome little car, glad I went with the EX for the extra features. Getting right at 30 mpg city, with 42 mpg highway being my best to date. The build quality seems very good (J-Vin, assembled in Japan). I bought the car the first day they were available. I still expect a few first year jitters, but so far so good.

  • Another great Honda Product - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

I have been buying & driving Hondas since the early 90s. Most of them are still on the road. Instead of trading them in, we have been giving them to our children & grandchildren. We have already given this Civic to our son & are looking to replace it with a new Pilot. In addition to fine automobiles, we also have Honda lawnmowers & Generators. Other than a rare recall, Ive never had to return to my dealer for any unscheduled repair. That is the best recommendation for a car regardless of its price.
