Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Best car for the money - 1998 Honda Civic

Though the 1.6 litre engine is not as good as the newer 35 m.p.g. civics it still delivers a good 25-30 m.p.g. While maintaning enough power to deliver high altitude performance at even 15000 feet above sea level. That said however stay away from cheaper low grade corn based alchohol fuels they can cut fuel efficiency by one-third so you refuel more often and you will spend more hard earned $ in the long run.

  • I dig my HX - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

Im the proud 2nd owner of a manual HX, and, overall, Ive been very satisfied with the car. With about 65,000 miles on it, this car sees mostly urban roads (especially the Capital Beltway), and is mainly used for shorts trips and commutes. This daily wear and tear has started to affect the starter and clutch a little bit (which hesitate or slip occasionally), but the car is still very reliable. Ive only had one major issue with it: the muffler rusted and fell off at about 57,500 miles. Otherwise, shes running strong and still looks great. And, except for newer diesels or hybrids, you cant beat the MPG. Recommended for anyone shopping for the ideal commuter car.

  • A good "every day" car!! - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

First, I must apologise for the not so good quality of my english... So, my 93 Chevy broked down last april and I bought this 150 000 Km Honda Civic knowing that its not a sport car, but an economic one! Its realy good at what it is suposed to do! But, I love powerfull cars... so... The 102hp/98lbs.ft. is not satisfying my need for speed! but shes good with my wallet! The most fun to have with a Civic is... at the gas station! but, it still handle very well and, with a manual transmission, it is possible to pass the slow ones on the highway!

  • Good Car so far - 2003 Honda Civic

very good car for the price.

  • Great Car - 2005 Honda Civic

The car is a lower-end car that feels like a higher-end car. I feel like the interior is stylish and comfortable. The performance isnt the best, but it is adequate, and I didnt buy the car for performance. The ride is comfortable and quiet. The gauges are bright and everything is easily accessable. The car has plenty of leg room and head room (which is unusual for a Civic) and the seats are firm, offering plenty of support. The clutch is great and the car shifts smoothly. I was a former Honda hater who has now changed my ways. I will be buying Honda from now on.

  • 2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe - 2006 Honda Civic

I love my Civic Coupe. Just the automatic transmission sometimes wants to hesitate on take off if you dont come to a complete stop. If a red light turns green and you hit the gas before you have reached a stop it will kinda lose its train of thought and take just a few seconds before it finds the right gear. Go figure. Other than that, 44 MPG on the HWY. You go Honda with your Civic. Thanks.

  • I Love my Civic - 2004 Honda Civic

The wife and I bought a 2004 civic new, and love it. Fit and finish are excellent. Fuel economy is great I have averaged 37mpg (better than window sticker). I have put 58k on it in 18 months and only had to change the oil and buy a set of tires. This is the best car for the money. We bought it new for around 16K. Reliable and comfortable, and safe to, I was in two accidents and both times walked away fine (not fender benders were talking serous crumple zone work-6K in damage). The civic is a great commuter car.

  • 06 Civic Hybrid - 2006 Honda Civic

I recently purchased a the Civic Hybrid for the fuel savings and HOV lane useage. So far the car has averaged 52 MPG. I commute between Eastern Suffolk County (Long Island) and Queens NY, so its a mixed bag of Highway and city driving. Car is excellent and handling is great. Highly recommended!

  • Problems on ice - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I definitely am satisfied with the performence of my Civic on wet, dry, and mountain roads. I was very disturbed by the lack of control I had of the vehicle on ice and snow. With front wheel drive, I expected better than what I got but at 10-15 mph the car would not run straight while other vehicles were passing me at twice my speed. I will not be taking this vehicle into snow country again. Road noise is a bit excessive and the transmission is suprisingly rough. Fuel economy is excellent. Handling on dry and even wet roads is exceptional, but it cannot hold its own on ice.

  • Another Great Honda! - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

Im a life-long Honda owner. I had stints with Plymouth, Subaru, and Jeep but always go back to Honda. This little car is the perfect example why. Although not as flashy (Mazda 3), Luxurious (Toyota Corolla), or fast (Dodge Neon) as other brands, this car offers a complete package and does it VERY well. No other model can touch the the design and ergonomics of Honda. Only Honda and Toyota offer top notch quality, safety, reliablity and resale value. If your priorities are reliability, fuel economy, quality construction, and roomy interior, this is the car for you! If you want a car that is fun to drive but drops in value like a concrete balloon go with almost any domestic sedan.
