Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Fun to drive, fun to own - 2006 Honda Civic

The Civic is great, the gas mileage is not what is posted, but what ever is? Before this car I had a Camry and never obtained the mileage on the window either. the long drive feel is great - this has turned out to be a great commuter car. My gas expense monthly has been cut in half compared to my V6 Camry. People love this car, and everyone will want to look inside. Great improvement on putting the controls for the keyless entry right on the key.

  • Nice Wheels - 2009 Honda Civic

I got mine Saturday, so I have not had a lot of time in it. I am 64" and I fit comfortably. So far so good, no complaints, the sun roof is nice.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the auto. The exhaust manifold was replaced at 57,500 miles. Currently, at about 72,000 miles, I am experiencing a slip on the automatic transmission. I have developed a knee problem, and it has become very difficult for me to exit the vehicle. I imagine that would be the case with many seniors and those with arthritic conditions.

  • Worst paint and customer support - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

I have a Honda Civic 2009. The paint started to crack and peel from two years ago. the peeling and cracking is now everywhere on the car. It was a shame everywhere I went in these two years. Since I bought the car used, I thought the car was repainted because of an accident. However, I recently searched online and found out that this is a wide-spread problem for various Honda models!!! I called Honda customer service and was told that because my car is just out of warranty (for twenty days) the repaint job should be done on my own expense, no matter the problem was persistent for last two years. Putting aside how much shame and discomfort this car has brought for me in these years, I was shocked how rude and irresponsible they are in dealing with their loyal customers. My suggestion to you all my friends is: NEVER go for Honda for your new car! Compared to the value and respect other automotive manufacturers like Toyota, etc would provide, it is crazy to invest your money on a car that brings discomfort for you when the company also refuses to take responsibility for their defected products.

  • everyone should have this car! - 1998 Honda Civic

I hear people with SUVs whining about their gas mileage, maintenance costs, and other stuff, and their jaw drops when I tell them I spend about $20 a week on gas! I bought this car in 10/03 w/ 53k miles and since then have driven the heck out of it. I now have 106k on it and have had no problems at all. I have done most of the big scheduled stuff on the car (spark plugs, timing belt, etc) and it runs like new! It also is a LOT cheaper to maintain than my wifes Liberty. My 63" stepfather is comfortable in the backseat. Drives smoother than any other compact I have ever ridden in! I love it!

  • Great but need to meet technology - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I loved my Honda. The only design problems I had with my honda was you could not charge a cell phone and your XM radio at the same time with only one socket. Like most cars now I think Honda should step into the 21st century and at least have 2 sockets. Also, the cup holder got in the way when you were charging your cell phone or had your xm radio plugged in. So, the designers should think of people that drive. Also, I would not recommend a Civic for people over 5 10". Not good on leg room!

  • Like the civic sedan a lot - 2006 Honda Civic

Bought an LX then added a moon roof. Have put 2200 miles on it already, commuting 50 miles a day & take on some business trips. Great little car! I am 63" and found this is one of very few small cars I fit in comfortably. Drives & handles great. Mileage is averaging 35-37 commuting, got 41 on a short interstate trip. Well built, have had no problems. For the money a well built, great driving vehicle. Expect to have for numerous years. Power is good for the size/price. Have hauled 4 adults comfortably

  • So far pretty good - 2008 Honda Civic

I wanted a small car. All small cars I test drove were only 128 hp. Upgrade to 140 hp for a marginal price increase and similar gas mileage was the main reason for us to buy this car. Milage was low intially but picked to 33 mpg for half freeway and half within city driving conditions. I wish they had remote trunk popup button on the key.

  • Honda Sis forever! - 2003 Honda Civic

This is the third Civic Si and the 16th Honda (not including my Honda motorcycles) that I have owned. It may be viewed by some as a kids car, but I am not a kid. To others, the exterior design may seem a little "funky" but I love it. Best of all, I really like the performance for the price in combination with decent fuel economy and the complete relability of a Honda. My last Si had 180,000 miles on it when it was "retired" by a careless driver. Otherwise, I would still be driving it! Dollar for dollar, you cant beat them!
