Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • lovin this car! - 2001 Honda Civic

This is the first car that i own. i drove my dads yukon xl for a year, but the gas mileage was killing me! my black honda civic is running great and taking good care of me in the snow and ice. this mileage is awesome! ive put over a hundred miles on the car in the last two days and only used a quarter tank of gas. the inside is larger than a jetta (my other option) which is nice, and for a small car, its roomy.

I got this car brand new with 2 miles on it in April 2003. I traded it in last night after 13.5 years and 196k miles. Awesome car! Only issue was temp gauge that no matter what was replaced, kept acting up. Thats reason why I got a new car. But other than that it was an amazing car, reliable.

  • Is this really a Civic? - 2006 Honda Civic

Wow! What a car!! Has the feel and look of a sports car and the price tag of an economy car. I am 63 and have plenty of room (head and leg) and could not fit in the Mazda 3. The car handles well and has plenty of pick up for its size. Navigation and XM are great. Fuel economy speaks for itself. This car is a blast to drive. I tested many and still cant believe this is a Civic!! This car turns heads with its new styling and people have commented that it doesnt look like a Honda. I dumped a Nissan Pathfinder for this and have no regrets.

  • So far so good - 2002 Honda Civic

It is noisy, and the interior could be upgraded. However I like driving it, get a lot of compliments on it, and havent had to make any repairs except oil change and two new tires. I added new stereo, alarm, remote start and tinted windows which adds nice extras. I plan on getting chrome exhaust, wider high performance tires and maybe stiffer suspension down the road. If you add what you want to this car and the reliability is there what more could you ask

  • Liked the shoe color, so I bought the matching car - 2016 Honda Civic

I love the catchy bright green color which just happens to match my favorite pair of shoes. This replaces my 1999 Toyota Camry Solara, which I drove for 265,000 miles and 17 years 9 months. Although I was very happy with the Solara, any new car is going to impress after driving such an old car. I think the Civic Coup Touring is a great value. The total cost was very close to the Solara even though car prices have gone up in the last 18 years. The Civic is missing a couple of features (power driver seat and garage door control) that I liked in the Solara, but adds many new features. The sound system that comes with the touring trim level is better than the Solara SLEs excellent sound system. The integration with Google Maps navigation via Android Auto is excellent. Im so glad I dont have to use Garmin navigation in order to use the large dash display. Im lucky that my Samsung phone is a bit old, so it does not have the new Android operating system which has lots of reported issues with Android Auto. I had to migrate my music library from Apple to Google because I cannot use both my iPod Touch and my Samsung phone at the same time. Google Play Music isnt quite as good as Apples but Im happy I was forced to move my ~15,000 songs to Googles cloud servers. The cruise control feature of slowing down for the car in front of you demonstrates fairly primitive self-driving technology. It tends to slow abruptly, especially when you are approaching a vehicle turning left or right from your lane. I keep using it a lot to try to understand when its best to enable it and when its best to disable it.

CV joints were the only thing (other than brakes and tires) I replaced on this car.

  • Owned all my life - 1991 Honda Civic
    By -

My dad bought a 1990 civic si when I was not even two years old, I loved the car so much after I owned it and it was involved in an accident I spent a year finding my 1991 civic si. Its not hard to find a fast car, but its hard to find an exciting car without spending a lot of money, its reliable but its the kind of car you will be smiling every time you step out of it. It may not be the fastest car, the sense of accomplishment you get driving the car to the edge is amazing. The springs are wound perfectly for the 14in tires and the sewing maching engine buzzing with all its got is a sensation I wouldnt trade for the world.

  • Most Reliable Car I ever had - 1992 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought it used with over 100k on it now it has 208k and still going sold rock. If you do not look at the odometer you would think it has below 50k. Never let me down. No mechanical problems just change the oil every 3k and put gas.
