Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Love the car, except for the head room. If you are over 6 feet tall, look for something else. Otherwise, its a great small car.

Ive owned this car for almost six years its got over 120,000 miles and still runs like new. I have never done anything to the engine or transmission, just regular oil change every 3K miles and a maintenance timing belt and water pump at 90K. Air filter and brakes when required. Im getting 33mpg. Its a very reliable car.

  • A/C system unsatisfactory - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

Test drove two different Honda Civics today. In both, the A/C cooling dropped to 50% of normal when idling at a light. Only cool when moving. On takeoff, hot air blows through vents because sensor apparently shuts A/C off during hard acceleration. The A/C and cooling fans in this car are unsatisfactory. Dealer said theyve had alot of complaints about it. Cant believe Honda let this one out the door. Ill pass on the Civic and Accord. Accord didnt handle/ride very well. Nice car but overrated.

  • 1993 Honda Civic LX - 1993 Honda Civic

My 93 Civic LX has >130K miles, and STILL gets >30 MPG! DOHC engine still very quick and reliable -- cruise very comfortably at fast speeds (would NEVER do with other older-mileage vehicles). Mechanically excellent, but some of the interior components starting to deteriorate after 13 years (LED on stereo, speakers, plastic door handle snapped, spring clip for wipers). Recently test-drove 2003 Civic EX -- difference in performance between 2 was negligible -- I was quite surprised! (Or maybe I couldnt really "test" it because salesperson was sitting next to me). Best car Ive owned yet!

  • Nice car but a bit pricey for a compact - 2003 Honda Civic

We really like the car, but think that we paid more for the Honda name than what its worth. We also just had a problem with the transmission. Apparently the 03s had a bulletin for transmission problems. We plan on driving the car for some time and now wish we had more than a 3 year warranty.

beautiful car but it rattles more than my 83 dodge pickup. the body is way to easy to ding. Dealer fixed most of the rattles but they keep coming back. test drove a 04 accord right off the lot it rattled. only get 32 to 38 MPG at 65 try 80 and it drops to 28. the thing is so noisy on long drives i leave it home and take my van. my wife loves this car but it will be my last honda. not near as fast as my 93 accord in streight line or around corners. I wish i had bought a toyota. at 56k miles it has a great resale value but it leaves me cold.

  • Awesome body design - 2016 Honda Civic

Engine performance is awesome but one problem I have seen so far is the rear center light cover kept falling off. I was told that there is a recall and a new adhesive is being developed to correct the issue, otherwise overall its great for single guys and gals.

  • best Honda Ive bought - 2012 Honda Civic
    By -

puzzled by "meh" reviews. 2nd Civic hybrid, 5th Honda Ive owned. This is the best since my 77 Accord, and Ive liked them all. Theyve all been reliable. Note that JD Powers elevated Honda to #2 today. Style: other than tail looks like a Camry, no complaints, but I wasnt in market for Corvette. "Cheap plastic"? plastic is plastic, it doesnt pretend to be burled wood or silver. And it is matte finish dash, which means less sun in the eyes. Comfort: supportive seats, roomy cabin front and back. Ride: incredibly smooth. Steering: responsive with very tight turning radius. Acceleration: adequate. Not a BMW, but hybrid owners dont burn rubber. Mileage: after 600 mi, 42+ MPG!

This car is just a nice, safe, reliable car for the money.

  • First Honda & I Am A Fan - 2006 Honda Civic

This is my first honda and let me just sum it up with one word - Impressed. This vehicle not only looks good it feels good to drive and its fun. My first fill up averaged 32mpg not quite the 40mpg but I have done a lot of stop and go driving and at 32mpg Im impressed. This car is not only the safest car it is fun to drive and nice to look at, the mp3/wma player just adds to that fun. I plan on owning this car for along time to come and pass it on to my now 9 yr old daughter when she is 16. Thanks Honda for making a product that is not only fuel efficent but safe and reliable all into one.
