Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This car has had more than its fair share of problems. Should the door lock break so you cant even open it up from the inside? How about the fact that the windshield has never sealed correctly, or even better how any time it rains the car just refuses to start. I also love the fact that O2 sensors and the original muffler lasted for a whopping 50K miles. Still under 100K and I am praying it doesnt die completely before I can get rid of it. Honda reliability... it must be a joke.

I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic Si on 12/23/2005. I was going to purchase an S2000, however, the Si is very comparable in performance, but about $15,000 less. Very fun to drive! Very comfortable! Great visibility! Great design of interior with many storage compartments! Stereo is superb! Handles as well as much more expensive sports cars at a fraction of the cost! Love it!

A very good car in its class. Engine and transmission are smooth and so far flawless on my car, power is quite good considering the car class. Ride is a little stiff, the road handling is excellent despite the mediocre stock firestone tires. My a/c works very well even on the hottest days. Interior finish and trim is also very good. Reliability to date is excellent unlike previous cars I,ve owned

  • little white cloud - 1997 Honda Civic

The only problem is highway noise and ride. If your tires are not new, and the car isnt aligned recently, it will shake at 75 mph. Of course we should all be driving this little white cloud, to save what is left of the environment.

Comfortable, good looking, well appointed, fun to drive, ultra low emissions and average gas consumption of 43mpg, after a year of city/highway driving! My Hybrid is responsive, quick, smooth and safe. What a great small sedan!

  • Great Car! - 1998 Honda Civic

This car just crossed 170000 miles. It was bought new after its model year, so my dad and I are the only owners. The only thing that was ever REALLY wrong was that the exhaust came apart under the car (as it did with two other Civics I know of). It was easily and cheaply replaced. Around 160000 I started hearing a whirring, and took it to the transmission place. They said it needed to be rebuilt, but couldnt point to an exact cause. I did it, and the noise is gone (or maybe just diminished), but Ive since become convinced I was ripped off. I expect to get another 80000 miles out of it at least, and Id rather buy a new engine for it than a new car!

I read enough about both the civic and prius to make me think its a toss up. The final factor, availabilty. Two toyota dealers had waiting list of 8 months to a year and a half. Honda dealer two miles from my work hadnt started a list yet and I had the next delivered hybrid. (3 days). I know it was lucky, but i got a hybrid for a few grand less, zero waiting, few hundred under sticker and in time to get the 2003 tax break.

  • Best engineering ever - 2004 Honda Civic

In terms of meeting expectations, this vehicle is the best Ive ever owned! Were delighted to be getting 40.1 mpg (36,000 mi) in reasonable comfort and variable driving conditions saving more than half the monthly cost of gas relative to our SUV (which I still use for off-road work).

I am very happy with my new honda civic. It is fun to drive. Although the steering is light,it is precise, Plenty of leg room and for a small engine, suprisingly peppy. You can really toss this car around and have fun with it. Dont believe anyone who says the car does not have enough power. This small engine loves to rev.

I bought this car new in 00. This car is an absolute blast to drive. The VTEC just sings at 5500rpm. Throw on an AEM intake and look out. Sounds like a beast! Dont settle for the SOHC. Go all the way for DOHC. The car is very quick and responsive. It handles well. The stock Michelens are absolute crap! Needs wider tires from the factory. Seats are not to supportive considering Im buying the "sporty" version.
