Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Worth a divorce! - 2006 Honda Civic

After test-driving a Civic Hybrid my wife threatened to divorce me if I bought one--until she test drove it herself. We own this and an 06 Ridgeline. Love Hondas and as always the quality is superb. Mileage isnt quite as good (43-47 mpg average) with my lead foot but I actually prefer the acceleration and power of the hybrid to a regular EX. CVT trans is great and never loses power like a standard automatic at shift points, even at speed (I can pass at 70+mph w/o problems). No loss of space in the trunk or interior from batteries. Navi system is definitely worth the extra $$$ especially if you are directionally challenged. Be ready for lots of stares and questions from people!!

I have always driven American made cars. I would never give in to the Honda hype. So many people had them. When gas prices went up these recent months I decided it was time to trade my SUV to save gas money. It took me a few weeks to get used to the small size, but now Im hooked. The first two tanks of gas alone sold me. I am surprised how well my civic handles. I have driven it in pouring rain and not been afraid, the steering is very good. I was shocked how quickly I have gotten used to the smaller size. The only true complaint is that since I am a tall girl (58") it is kind of hard to get in and out of. Once I am in though, Im very comfortable.

  • A great little car - 2007 Honda Civic

When gas prices started moving higher and higher, I started thinking about upgrading to a hybrid. As a very satisfied Civic owner, I decided to try out a Civic Hybrid. It was love at first drive. The engine is extremely quiet, yet quickly responds and seamlessly transfers power between the gas engine and electric motor. I could not be more pleased with the gas mileage. On average, I get 48 miles to the gallon on my 22 mile highway commute. I would recommend the car to anyone who wants a more green ride, yet does not want to sacrifice comfort and style.

  • 1st time Honda buyer - 2004 Honda Civic

My family has always been a loyal american made car buying one. However I noticed all the problems we had with buicks, cadillacs, chevys etc. Engines powerful by awful electronics and fuel econ. My wifes family had 3 generations of accords putting on average 150,000 on each with only minor problems. So I decided to get a civic mainly for work commute and to avoid the rath of my wife. Have had it only for one month but so far like it alot. Cant beat the gas mileage, ride, stereo, and room for the price.

  • THRILLED I bought this car! - 2006 Honda Civic

I expected to buy the 06 Prius, but after test driving I found the Civic handled much better and didnt have as much cabin noise. The only disappointment Ive had is the fact the engine "auto-stop" feature (when stopped at a light) doesnt always kick- in. The manual explains some of the reasons this doesnt always happen, but there are still some times I cant figure why it doesnt shut down. Thats minor, though, in light of the excellent "green rating" (#1 on some lists) and my overall satisfaction - I HIGHLY recommend this car!

  • Nice car but.... - 2008 Honda Civic

I have owned this vehicle for 1 year and have about 29,000 miles on it. The vehicle handles good. Gas mileage is good. I was rear ended at 10mph by a Jeep Cherokee and the vehicle suffered a lot of damage. I was told that the steel in the civic is not as strong as other vehicles I guess for weight? Any way not too impressed. Happy I leased it for 24 months and cant wait to get out of the lease. I suggest leasing and if you like the vehicle buy it after the lease is up, if you dont like it you can return it like I will. I need something fuel efficient and fun to drive this is not as fun.

  • Great car; excellent value - 2015 Honda Civic

This car is much nicer than Mazda3 or other similar cars. Interior and controls are laid out much better. Ride is excellent and there is minimal road noise versus other similar cars. Trade-in value will always be the highest with this car!
