Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

You get what you pay for. One suggestion to people making negative comments is to "TEST DRIVE" the car first. It seems like people never even sat in the car once before buying it. Many people comment about lack of power... want more power, buy a car with a V6 or V8 not a 4-banger. I have owned this car for over 2 years now and have not had a single problem with it. I take it in for scheduled tune ups (based on the book not the dealer recommendations). I would not buy a 1000 sq ft house made of cardboard and then complain about it being made of cheap material and too small. Again "You Get What You Pay For". If you want a more powerful Honda, get an Accord.

Great Car, I am very impressed with the fit and finish. Car handles well on both fwy and city streets. Ive always bought Detroit iron, but this car puts them all to shame. I just love the 43.5 average MPG. Cannot say enough good things about this car.

  • Nice car... - 2008 Honda Civic

Having owned a 2006 Honda Civic LX and traded that to an Accord with gas prices going nowhere but up I decided to go back to the Civic but with the upgraded EX version. Im glad I did. The little differences... wiper variable speed, sunroof trunk release on the key fob and 350 watt sound system and some other minor differences have me enjoying this car more enjoyable than the 1st time. If any problems happen develop.. Ill be sure to write back but almost a month into my ownership, Im happy.

  • I love my new Honda! - 2005 Honda Civic

I have had my new Honda now for 3 months. I went from a Toyota Camry which I loved dearly until it was totaled in May. I had about a week to find a new car that I liked. I have always been a Toyota girl, until I started driving my Civic. I love it. The guys at the dealership were great even though they knew I was going to have to purchase a car. The dealers at Toyota were not very nice at all. My car is awesome!

  • 2008 LX noisy and cramped - 2008 Honda Civic

2dr lx is way too cramped inside. The parking brake handle runs my knee cap raw. Im 59 170 lbs, a average sized person and I cannot find a comfortable seating position in this car. My legs are very cramped and my arms barely reach the radio controls once I get the proper leg position. The automobile was obliviously designed for smaller stature people. Car is extremely noisy on highway trips. The radio volume must be elevated to drown out the tire noise at highway speeds. Evidently Honda did not invest in soundproofing. Many blind spots, cannot see the front or rear end of the car when attempting to park. My ADVISE Buy a Toyota Corolla

I have 105,000 on this car and the only repair Ive had to make is a headlight that burned out about a month ago. Still the original brakes! Second set of tires still look good. I drive a lot of highway miles and average 40+ mpg. This is a great car. The only reason Im getting rid of it is to buy a 2006 Civic EX coupe.

I have had zero problems with this car. It is very reliable and fun to drive. I commute 45 miles per day and it is not uncomfortable at all.

  • Gas Saver! - 2007 Honda Civic

This is the third Honda that I have owned and once again I was more than pleased with its performance. Driving a hybrid takes a little getting used in reference to how quiet it is but it handles just as well as my Accord did. I drive about 120 miles a day and have really noticed a savings in gas and time at the pump! If you are conscious of how you drive you can really get up to 50 mpg. This is the best car I have ever owned!!

I had my Honda Civic EX for two years. I bought it just because I liked the exterior design of the car, but now I even can understand why people prefer Japanese cars- the longer you drive, you feel even more reliable. I have not had a single problem with the car, and it is getting only more comfortable to drive around. It has well-balanced stereo system, and great with gas.

  • Falling apart? - 2003 Honda Civic

Got it new and I was pretty pleased at the price, at first. Almost from the get go though there was some "clicking" from the engine, bad smell from the AC and all the moding seems to be coming off. Tried to take it in for repairs but nothing ever seems to get fixed and I feel a lot of the people at the dealership are being rude and they just dont want to seem to help me. Cant imagine going Honda again. Too bad too since I was really excited about getting my Civic.
