Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Bought this car in 2014, with 127k miles, i am a pizza delivery driver and it now has 171k miles. Ive read a lot of other reviews and i can agree that when putting the car in gear from park to drive, or reverse to drive, it can slip if you step on the gas. My advice to you is: to make your tranny last, go easy on the accelerator right when you get into gear, giving your car this little time cushion will be alot safer on the transmission. you should be able feel the car drop in gear after going into drive. Other than preventative maintenance like the timing belt, water pump, oil changes, new tranny fluid, the best thing you can do is to take care of your car! do the oil changes every 5,000 miles. i started using fully synthetic oil in my car, but its up to you. Im happy with my honda! <3

This is my third SI and they just keep getting better. $4000 is a little pricey for the HFP package but what can you do?

Ive had my hybrid for 14 months now, love driving it on my long commute to work. Best part is getting the Civic reliability and hybrid technology in a car that looks and acts completely normal. Im still surprised at how much pep the car has in accelerating and passing. Advertises close to 50mpg but with heat/ac running its closer to a 46mpg avg.

  • Struts and Springs over and over Again - 2002 Honda Civic

I have been selling new Hondas for several years and have never been disappointed until this 2001 LX sedan. I have had squeaks, creaks, and rattles since day one. I believe all the springs and three of the struts have been replaced to no avail. My first two Hondas were stellar; this one has been dreadful. Gas mileage has hit 40 on extended drives, but hovers around 27 with gentle city driving.

Went to try out a new Civic coupe, but also drove the Si. Couldnt leave dealership without it. Its black and has all ground effects spoilers, hence draws lots of attention and comments. Im 61" 240# and it fits better than any car Ive had before. Ive taken 3 passengers in it on over-night trips and no complaints yet. It begs to be driven hard and fast. Im constantly trying to find new 2 lane roads to explore. Ive more confidence in its handling than in any other car Ive tried. I really like its styling, inside & out. Its now my favorite toy and I spend a lot of time in it. The best money I ever spent. Id really like to have another one set up just for racing.

  • A great first car - 1993 Honda Civic

This car was a great first car for me. It had great styling, gas mileage, and was extremely reliable. I bought it with 205k and it went to 222,000 miles without any issues! I went to take it in to have them evaluate some noise it was making and it would have cost more to fix it then to just trade it in. So I opted to purchase a new civic from the dealer. Besides that, I never had any issues whatsoever which surprised me with the high mileage it had.

  • I miss my civic! - 2002 Honda Civic

I miss this car! Unfortunately I sold my civic to purchase something else and have had so many problems with it I am looking for a new civic now. This car had great gas mileage, looked good, and had a pretty decent system. Shifting was smooth (manual) and the engine was very responsive.
