Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I have not had any major problems with my civic. It is a very reliable car and I truly enjoy driving it because it is sporty and economical at the same time. Not to mention, it just looks really cool!

Drove both Civic Hybrid & Prius before buying. Civic is quieter; has fewer distractions for operator; and gets even better mileage than advertised. We have taken several 400 mile trips and find the Civic to be stable and effortless on the highway. We have discovered that keeping cruise speed below 68 mph increases gas mileage by nearly 6%. I utilize GPS on other vehicles and would prefer a more comprehensive data base on the Civic. We love the car and feel that we made the right choice.

I bought my Honda Civic Si in 97 for $6200. I have done some basic performance modifications on it, but little to the engine itself. I have had nearly zero problems with this car. My distributor bearing went out in 2001 (cost me approx. $220 to fix myself) and then my ignition coil failed 5/06 (cost me less than $100 to fix myself). This car still gets about 38 mpg on the highway and about 34 mpg in the city. The mpg averages 36-37 even after hitting 260,000 miles!! Yes 260,000!! This cars little sohs vtec engine is an engineering marvel. My only complaint is on the body. Nearly every fifth generation Civic (EG) has rust on the rear wheel well. This car has paid for itself 10 times over

My Honda has been a cream puff for 12 yrs. Have had to fix a few things every 3 years but mostly just oil changes and scheduled maintenance. This is a great economy car and the EX Coupe with its VTEC engine and extras has been fun to drive. Cant go wrong with this car.

  • fantastic car for the money - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car new. had it for 6 years now, driven it for 186,000 miles. Ive only had to do standard maintenance on it, nothing has gone wrong. I plan to buy another civic when and if this one wears out. Fabulous car... go honda.

The coupe is a fantastic vehicle. On the first tank of gas I got 7.5 more mpg than my previous car. The ride is extremely comfortable, it rides like a car that costs much more. Having the controls on the steering wheel is an added bonus of the EX that I enjoy. I dont have to take my eyes off the road or my hands off the wheel to change the volume or station.

although i have a 4 cylinder it rides very well very economically sufficient for my needs has lots of child saftey features.

  • best car yet - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

My daughter bought this car and has now driven 2000 miles. I went along with her for several rides. I found it quiet, and roomy in the passenger seat. When she finally let me drive it, I found it a bit underpowered, but thats a good thing for my Little Miss Leadfoot! All in all, its a stylish, comfortable good quality car. On a 1- 10 I would givr it a 9.
