Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Reliability- HA! - 2002 Honda Civic

Has had constant issues with the emissions/ fuel systems. After only 20,000 had to replace catalytic converter - Honda offered NO help, and in fact tells me they just cant give me the normal trade in amount becuase the car doesnt run well!!!!

  • Great Little Car - 2003 Honda Civic

Ive owned my Civic EX 4 speed auto for about a month and love it. It is quick enough for town driving and handles well. It is sharp looking (I get compliments from strangers) although it is not a standout. I got the optional 5 spoke alloy wheels and those are a great addition to its looks. I am anxious to see if the gas mileage improves as I drive it (first tank of gas got 26 mpg). Summary to date: LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Civic Si- mini Zoom Zoom car - 2003 Honda Civic

I was somewhat skeptical of stepping down from Honda Prelude 2000 to Honda Civic Si, however I am pleased to say it handles and it is just as much fun to drive. One drawback is the claim it is fast, by no means is it a rocket yet it does the job and gets pretty decent gas mileage. Handling is terrific and the stiff shocks make it a blast particularly on corners. Overall I like my new Honda Civic Si, although next model I would boost up the power.

  • New Honda Lover - 2005 Honda Civic

I love my new Honda. My previous car, which was a convertible was totalled due to tire failure. I needed to get something that would be practical, extremely nice looking and economical. I had the interior upgraded to leather - and my car looks very smart!

  • Im in love with a Civic - 2006 Honda Civic

I knew I wanted this car from the moment I saw the Civic Si Concept. I searched and was able to find a Certified 06 with 14k miles on it, $3,000 below what I would have paid new! I love everything about this car. The interior always gets compliments. I have heard, "I love the little blue light" and "Your car looks like a space ship! How cool!" The interior plastic and paint could be of better quality but those are my only complaints. I average about 35-38 mpg in mixed driving. The sound system in the EX is great. 350 watts and 7 speakers! The engine has enough pep and the transmission shifts smoothly but loves to be pushed at times. You cant find a better car in this price range.

  • Beware of Civics at or near 90k-100k miles - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

06-09 honda civics have a known manufactoring defect in the engine block. They mostly fail at the 90k mark a person driving 8k miles a year may not encounter this until the 12th year of ownership. The repair for this known defect is 2500-4500 depending on the dealer. Honda knows about the defect which is why the extended coverage to 10 years. But for owners who are just hitting this 90k-100k thresh hold we are out of luck and need to fork out almost half of a used car. I have loved and pampered my honda for the past 10 years. I dont think it is a question of if it will fail but when.

  • Best Car You Can Buy For Your Money - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my car used with 41,000 miles on it. I have been driving it for less than three years and it now has over 130,000 miles on it. I am a pizza delivery driver and have driven this car to 34 states and it has NEVER broken down on me. I have never done anything to it besides routine maintenance. I can drive it from San Antonio, TX to Houston, TX and back on one tank of gas. I can not stress enough to you how dependable this car is. I will never buy anything that is not a Honda again.

  • Drive it like you stole it! - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Phenomenal car, drives like Hondas S2000 while providing four doors and four seats to compliment low insurance costs and practicality. The shifter looks like its too far to the right but it is perfect, the handling is wonderful, very comfortable racing seats. Many compartments for storage and very race-car invigorating driving experience (sound and pull). Dream car for a "tuner" and a practical choice for cruising with friends around town.

  • Miles per gallon as advertised - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

While I have owned the car only a few weeks, it is delivering overall mileage of 50-52 miles per gallon. I did notice that the "MPG" display on the dash is consistently about 1-2 miles per gallon less than that I actually calculate based on mileage and gallons to fill. I am extremely pleasedl.

  • highly recommended - 1999 Honda Civic
    By -

When i first decided to buy a used car i was very uneasy and skeptical of every car i looked at. Finally i found my honda civic dx and although it has high mileage, the moment i test drove the car i felt confident, safe, and assured that this car would last and be a good investment. Although i have only had the car a month or so now, it has given me no problems and i continue to feel safe and enjoy driving this car. I really wanted a car with a sunroof, cd player and all the bells and whistles but when i drove this honda- although not fully loaded- i was more than willing to sacrifice for the peace of mind the honda offered.
