Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Best for the long haul - 2006 Honda Civic
By Mack Easty - July 11 - 8:43 amExtraordinarily reliable and economical. After 193,000 miles I am getting the same gas mileage as when I bought it. Will get 33 mpg on 80 mph trips. Roomy and comfortable. Love the styling. I wish the current Civics looked this good. Very comfortable. A bit loud in the cabin at speed. Car has always been somewhat sensitive to crown of roadways and will tend to drift to lower side of canted road. Has been this way since purchase. Likely due to the aggressive steering geometry which gives the car its sharp handling. Ive improved this by using different alignment settings than the Honda recommendations. Very well made car throughout. Upholstery appears in perfect condition with no tears or visible wear after 10+ years and almost 200,000 miles. Great sound system. I highly recommend this car as a choice for a used vehicle. From what Ive read, the new Civics are not providing this kind of reliability, although they surpass this model year in performance.

Great Job Honda! - 2004 Honda Civic
By kev1172 - July 10 - 10:00 amOverall, this car is everything that a budget minded consumer wants for under $15000. Small, ecomonical, and a no nonsense approach to functionality, wrapped up in a fun to drive, sporty car thats not embarrasing to drive around town in. If your looking for a car without all the frills that you dont need, but need features like a/c and cd player, this really is the car for you.

Excellent car overall - 2008 Honda Civic
By Valerie Phillips - July 8 - 2:40 amI have only driven the car a few thousand miles, but enough to know what a wonderful car it is! When I traded, my car payment increased approx. $50.00, however I have saved over $100.00 in gas each of the past 2 months. The ride is very pleasant and the overall workmanship of the car is great. There a few minor irritations, however I would definitely choose this vehicle again. I do wish that I would have gotten an EX-L with Navigation.

My first Honda - 2007 Honda Civic
By Ryan - July 7 - 3:06 pmI recently traded in my 2001 Sebring because I wanted something more reliable and better gas mileage. My brother has an 03 civic and loves it, so I took to 2007 for a test drive and fell in love with it. It has great acceleration for a small car and is fun to drive.

Fun car to drive - 2006 Honda Civic
By Dupang2 - July 6 - 8:33 pmThis is a nice looking car and also fun to drive. Although its small for 5 adults, but how many times you have 5 people in the car anyway. I also ave. 29-30 miles per gallon, city. I havent tried highway yet. The 140 horse is not bad too, a little slow on the start, but when it goes you wont be disappointed. Just remember its only 140 horse not 240. The interior is not bad too. Something different. Im glad I bought this car. Honda USA did agood job.

Best car that Ive had in years! - 2005 Honda Civic
By Sandi - July 6 - 3:30 pmA friend purchased the Civic Hybrid the first year they were made. She is still driving and loving it. I was impressed and decided to try it. Like many people I was disappointed in my mileage during the first couple of months but I read the message boards and learned that it would increase with time and my experience with driving a hybrid. It has. I average 45-52 mpg. I seldom have to get gas but when I do, I smile the whole time. Other cars may get great gas mileage but I have that along with Honda reliabilty and safety. This is a great value for the money!

Jackson Racing supercharged SI - 2004 Honda Civic
By Jong - July 6 - 2:18 amMy Si has has a supercharger, headers, cold air intake and catback exhaust. It makes about 210ish HP and 150ish torque. Its have plenty of speed and a lot of fun to drive. I still maintain 20-23 local and 25-30 highway. I dont like the stock body much but it looks sharp with the HFP package

What a blast! - 2007 Honda Civic
By Puzman - July 4 - 10:30 pmThis is my 3rd Civic (85 DX, 91 Si). For around 20K, this car is an unbeatable value. The drivetrain is incredible- smooth shifts (with the exception of 5th-6th) and the engine spins like a turbine. Rev to the top of the tach and you get a crazy rush of acceleration; its more addictive than crack. Cornering is flat and direct, the handling and the build are very tight, the stereo and interior are great (I happen to like the digital speedo), the seats are incredibly comfy, and the fuel economy has been great (two fills thus far- 27.5mpg and 29mpg avg). Top that with Hondas reputation for reliability and this is a no-brainer.

Great - 2001 Honda Civic
By bagman69 - July 4 - 9:38 pmFrom purchase to the present our Civic has been both a pleasure to drive and a pleasure to maintain. There have been no problems (let alone major ones) in 3 years of driving this car. For drives to our daughters place (4 hour drive through hilly terrain) this car gets 35 to 42 mpg (winter/summer). Every three months I take the car to my Honda dealer for oil changes and recommended service.
