Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • This Hybrid is a Winner - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

After driving a 17 year old Honda Civic without any major mechanical break downs, we needed a Honda that would be fuel efficient and safe. We settled on a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. This Car is a Winner! Fit and Finish is Excellent, Gas Mileage is consistently above 45mpg and it rides quietly on the open road. You hardly know its a Hybrid except when you see the "Engine Off" light blinking when the Hybrid is running off its battery. Do yourself a favor and purchase Honda, it beats the Toyota Prius hands down. Dont ever worry about the motor stalling out like the Toyotas have been plagued with.

this car was amazing. not only was it a good car, and good on gas but i completely totaled my car and had 4 kids in there with me and no-one was hurt. the airbags came out and not even a scratch was put on any of us. this car is amazing and i would tell anyone who is looking for a new car and wanted something small and cute to go for an 06 civic because they are amazing!

  • Best mileage, fun car! - 2007 Honda Civic

I love this little car! It has as much room as my 96 Camry did. I can fit my 10 speed bike in the back with the seat down. It was a good buy pricewise too. I am planning to put 300,000 plus miles on it.

  • Dont Trust the Mileage - 2007 Honda Civic

Dont buy this car for the gas mileage. My car is getting 19 MPG 50% Highway 50% City driving. Dealership says not their problem, Honda of America says not their problem either even if the actual mileage is half the estimate it is not their problem. Extreme glare from the dash on the windshield. IF you buy this car you better be lucky, some get 35 MPG some get 19 MPG and if your one of the lucky ones to only get 19 Honda doesnt think there is any problem. I owned a 2003 KIA Rio Cinco before this and it got better gas mileage then this car, cost $10,000 brand new and was only rated at 25 city 32 highe .. and it got better. Do NOT buy this car for the mileage you will be sorry

  • Best car I have ever owned - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

The 2016 Civic base model seems more like a luxury car than a Civic. Even 2.0 liter base engine has a lot of punch and the CVT transmission is incredible. The steering is tight and it holds the road like a BMW. Yeah I just said that. In fact I park mine next to my neighbors Mercedes Benz, and mine definitely is the winner in looks and performance, and costs more than half as much. At $20000 financed and $2000 down, this car is the best value thats ever been on the market. I stand by that 100%. I drove Toyota, Mazda and Kia before I made my decision and the closest models where the Mazda 3 and the Optima, but for overall road hugging fun, looks, performance, reliability, lasting value, and dealer support nothing beats the new Civic. Let me talk on dealer support for a moment. I got life long oil changes, 7 year 100k mile electronics warranty, and all the road side and mechanical and power train warranties that come along with it. Plus most Honda dealers dont mess around. They do their job and give you the support you need in a timely manner. That includes their service station. And though I got the 4 door it looks sportier than my dads 2008 coup. A lot sportier. Drining it is fun as heck, to the point youll grind your teeth when your going below 55mph, so get a mouth guard. I got fabric seats as well and usually I hate them, but these are high enough quality I really didnt mind and actually like them. Its also very comfortable to drive. On long trip I usually take my Trail Blazer. Which has a lot of comfort but my shoulders and back start getting stiff after 6+ hours of driving. In the 2016 Civic the only discomfort I get from long drives down the Oregon and California coast, and thats highway 101, is when I have stop driving. Driving in the back roads of the Willamette Valley is even better. The electronics are cool too, the blue tooth actually works like its supposed to, so the hands off calling is actually nice and easy to use. I have a Samsung Note 2 and it connects flawlessly via usb for mp3s. Sound system is good, not great, but thats not really what Im into. Oh and the Silver Lunar paint job is the best Ive ever had on a relatively cheap car. Its so good, I cant believe its not from the Accura decision. Im honestly trying to think of a negative. Yeah you could spend more and get more horse power, but 7 seconds to 60 isnt bad with the base engine, and Ive timed it several times. Its like 7.25s, but for 19500 starting price how is that not awesome? The same for all the electronics, even the base model has a backup camera, and for a few dollars more, you can get the accident and lane assist, which is cool, but I didnt feel it was necessary. The 2016 Civic really does deserve car of the year.

  • I love my Civic Hybrid - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

My hybrid is fun to drive, gets great gas mileage, and has all the comforts of a Honda Civic EX. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking a comfortable sedan, with excellent pickup and is good for the environment. Dont forget, you get a $2,000 cash back from the IRS for the first year you own the vehicle. Also, if you live in Virginia, you can ride the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes with no additional passengers until July 2006. It makes getting to work a breeze.

  • Go for Jetta NOT Civic - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

    1. Leather Seats are not good. I already see wrinkles - Bad quality leather 2. Bad pickup. 3. Mileage is not as promised. 4. Has 6 Speaker and 1 woofer but woofer is very bad (Honda or the Dealer continue to claim its good but its not good). Creates buuurrrr sound at volume 9. 5. Definitely need re-engineering in all aspects. 6. Buy EX-L if the on-road price is $14,000.

  • Cheap Ride - 2005 Honda Civic

The 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid performs as expected from a Honda product, but has a battery located behind the back seat. The battery provides additional power to the small but adequate gasoline engine. As a manager I purchased the automobile for frequent short distance trips and have been very pleased to find out that the fuel economy is enhanced by stop and go driving. Each time the vehicle stops, the battery charges and is used to boost the gasoline engine. The most interesting part of the vehicle(s), we purchased two, is that when it is at a stop, you cannot hear the engine at all. The ones we purchased have all of the bells and whistles of any other car, but is very practical.

  • A perfect 10! - 1999 Honda Civic
    By -

My first new Honda Civic was in 1992 with the new body style. Im on my fourth Civic - graduating to the EX. I have beaten every one of them up and they never fail me. Im ready to buy #5 soon - probably the 2003. They hold their value no matter how long youve had your Honda. Ive never lost money in the sales of my Civics. Highly Recommended to younger females because of reliability!!!

  • 2000 Civic Si ROCKS! - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

Make no mistake, this is a drivers car. The highlight of the car is the VTEC engine, reportedly a result of Hondas involvement in racing...oh, so thats why when you get on it, it sounds like a NASCAR stocker screaming down the backstretch at Watkins Glenn. This car make sounds that are very pleasing to the auto enthusiest, but may be annoying to others. The transmission is so smooth and there is hardly any lean in the corners. This car is hard to drive slow. Even with this excellent performance, the car gets 26 to 31 mpg.
