Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Best car ever! - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car used with 202k miles on it. Ive had it just over a year and its not got 220k. It consistently gets 39 mpg combined (it has the 1.5L Vtec motor). Weve had to put some work into it CV axles, tie rods, control arms and ball joints but this has been well worth the time and $ put into it. This car gets better city gas mileage than just about ANY new car. And with it being 18 years old with 220k miles on it? It drives like new! The paint is fading but were going to have a paint job done. For a completely STOCK car this is the best buy out there!

  • I love this little car! - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car new off the lot in 2000 and to this day it has been the BEST purchase I have ever made. She has a few miles on her now, over 100,000, and still runs wonderfully and I have never had a problem. I intend on keeping this car and maintaining it to at least 200,000.

  • Great car can be better - 2013 Honda Civic

Honda did a great job on this Civic. They fixed the inadequatcies that Consumer Reports pointed out. Fit and quality excellent. For those that feel the ride noisy, upgrade to the EX. The noise is from the cheaper tires on the LX. This is true with all the Honda line up. Blue tooth works great, navi and radio excellent. Good ride quality, 36-38 MPG HW at 65-75 mph. Overall 29-31 mpg, even with my wife driving...she only know to accelerate or brake..nothing inbetween. 4 wheel disc brakes stop the car very quickly compare to disc/drum combo. Ive heard some complaints about the seats, I find them very comfortable. The Hyundi elantra has 2 big blind spots, Honda does not.

  • 2010 Civic Not What I Expected - 2010 Honda Civic
    By -

Bought the Civic used with 11,700 miles in March 2012. Noticed a bit of abnormal tire wear at that time. Ive rotated and balanced the tires twice since then, still getting more wear, probably rear suspension issue. Front brakes went out at 30,000 and I drive mostly highway. This shouldnt have happened. Handling bumpy and it tends to skate over larger bumps. Wish it ran 1/2 as well as the Accord I had with 285,000 miles on it. Planning on dumping it soon.

  • Really glad I purchased this! - 2013 Honda Civic

I really enjoy this car. Its definitely saved me on gas with the econ feature. My old Elantra 01 would use up a full tank a week to get to work, with my Civic using econ I use 1/2 a tank a week. Only thing with econ is it drives a little slow going up hills and such, but that should be obvious because thats how it works. You cant hit the gas and take off, but Im fine with that! I drove it in the horrible road conditions from our last snow storm and while it was very bumpy from the poor plowing, I may have slid once or twice, where as other cars I watched were all over the road. Some of the blind spots could take a while to adjust to.

  • Honda Civic 2013 EX-L - 2013 Honda Civic

Ive had the car for over a month now so I think I can write a fair review. I considered the Corolla, the Mazda 3, and Nissan Sentra and while I liked the colors available in all of those, I felt more comfortable driving a Civic. My old 2003 Civic was great and this is awesome! Bluetooth, spacious room for a 55 male. The car is just fun to drive and gives great MPG. Its quiet and climate control is great. I didnt like the wheels at first but I love the sporty look on them now. Trunk space is limited but spacious enough for groceries, sporting equipment, and the crap I carry around. Dealer wanted to sell me multiple warranties, my response.."Its a Honda!" I know it will start in the a.m.

  • the best looking hybrid ever built - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I love my car. I got it because of the gas prices going up and I loved the way it looked. I dont regret it. I get about 45mpg because I like to speed. It is light, small, and fun to drive. The one thing that I just dont like is when Im driving up those crazy steep hill going to Las Vegas. I have to catch momentum and then keep it on 3rd gear.

  • QUALITY, COMFORT, SAFETY - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I have had "0" problems with my Civic. the car has performed better than I expected when I received the car in 2006. I had a minor front end collision back in 2008 and the service/collision team at rick case handled the repair quickly and to my satisfaction. I hope to be a Honda customer for a long time thanks to the great service at Rick Case.

  • 2010 Hybrid is a risk to buy - 2010 Honda Civic
    By -

More or less our 2010 Civic Hybrid was not the best choice. It is all pretty good and as I expected for a Honda except the hybrid battery. Here you have a car that gets 38-42 miles per gallon which is fine and we are happy with it. But at 40k miles the hybrid battery needed replacement. The battery is covered for 100k miles so they replaced it but the coverage is not extended as a new battery but just covered for the additional 60k miles! So we have a car that gets mileage that is only a hair better, if that, than the new non-hybrids and the battery is not dependable. So lurking in the future is perhaps the need to pay $4k or better for a new battery. Best to pick another hybrid.
