Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

The 2010 Ex got even better - 2012 Honda Civic
By jabutix - August 18 - 5:03 pmThe Civic EX 2012 exceeded my expectations. It drives well and is quite responsive, making it a fun ride. Mileage got even better and the Economy button works very well for slow traffic conditions. The interior design is attractive and the accessibility to all commands makes it quite functional. It is a good buy for the money.

A little disappointed - 2004 Honda Civic
By Doug - August 17 - 10:48 amI love the car, the design, comfort and reliability, but am only getting between 38 - 43 MPG. Not bad, but was expecting a lot better. I have tried to drive conservatively, but still got less than 43 in city driving. Highway seems to do better, but most of my driving is in traffic. So a little disappointed in the fuel efficiency, but overall I am enjoying the car.

great car....especially for the money - 2004 Honda Civic
By tpaschall - August 17 - 10:00 amWe bought this car a little over a month ago, so obviously we dont have much to say about reliability. But, this is a great car. First of all, its beautiful (we got it in the green). Also, it has a very smooth ride, especially for a smaller engine. It accelerates very well, has an amazing turning radius, and gets amazing gas mileage. I LOVE the inside of it, very nice and sleek and uncluttered.

Great Car - 2006 Honda Civic
By Kristen - August 17 - 4:40 amI love my car! Ive had it for 2 months now. Great pickup - handles great - even the windsheild wipers slow down when you are at a stop light.

Civic EX in Galaxy Gray - 2008 Honda Civic
By Kate - August 17 - 12:43 amAlthough I have only driven my car for a short period of time I have already fallen in love with it. I previously owned a limited edition 2005 VW Jetta GLI, but due to fuel economy and no auxiliary input I got rid of it. This civic is great. This car has the best stock radio system I have ever heard...I didnt even have to put in an aftermarket sub and amp to get the bass that I wanted.

damn good cars - 1990 Honda Civic
By george jetson - August 15 - 12:54 amIve owned my civic for almost 8 years now and have had few problems. I do all the work myself and its very easy to maintain and parts availability is good. the only weakness Ive experienced up to date is cv axles, upon which Ive replaced both sides the one side twice. I also did my head gasket and brakes. I dont know what causes head gaskets to blow but it was an easy repiar. By doing it myself I saved over $800.00. She runs as good as when I purchased it about 130,000 kms ago. I would recommend this car for anybody looking for a cheap reliable car.

BestBuilt - 2000 Honda Civic
By Tom T - August 13 - 2:00 amI bought this car new and it is a justified success story. It always starts and runs smoothly, getting great gas mileage all the while(36-40mph hwy). All I do is change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash it occasionally while driving about 15k mi. per yr. My original tires lasted 49k miles and I will not do a tune-up until 60k miles. Overall, its a very solid car for a reasonable price. I have friends with over 200k miles on their Hondas, so I expect to keep this one awhile. The only problem I had was a loose front passenger int. door panel which was replaced quickly by the dealer at 5k miles.

Honda owner for life! - 2004 Honda Civic
By Lynda Alsup - August 12 - 4:27 pmMine is a Honda Civic EX - 5speed manual. I drive 85% highway and average 33mpg. Previous car was a V6 2000 GrandAM (automatic) and I am VERY impressed with the pick up & acceleration onto the highway with my Civic. I call it my poor mans BMW but thats a compliment because it has the classic exterior styling of a BMW without the outrageous price tag. Ive always been a GM buyer - especially Pontiac but after owning a Civic - Im Honda forever!
