Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Not happy - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I am getting 25 mpg hwy only 800+ miles. Its very uncomfortable. Very disappointed in my first Honda. Did loads of research and this was the all around best value, safety, gas mileage etc but I am incredibly disappointed. I even have the plastic laminate bubbling off around the windows.

  • Like it - yes, but not my dream car - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Its my first Honda, I like it, but am a little disappointed. Its sharp looking, but needs work. I do enjoy better gas mileage, but this car needs some oomph. Its slow going uphill and struggles to switch gears even on flat ground. If I crack my window when raining it pours in, and there are no Honda door visors available for the 2006 Civic. It sits so low to the ground, that its tough to get in and out of if you have knee problems, and Im only 54". Sun visor has too much tension, is hard to pull down, and wont stay put. Tires are tiny, Ive already scratched the rim on a low curb - other cars might get a tire scuff. The 2006 sits lower than former model years - park next to one and see

  • SINCERE, HONEST REVIEW - 2007 Honda Civic

This car is fun to drive, has a lot of sex appeal, and gets good gas milage (about 30 mpg) Quiet engine, and driving experiance. You might feel tiny at a light sitting next to a Ford F150. This was a step down for me. I owned a loaded 02 Impala LS since new. So, I added almost all assesories except front and side spoliers.I miss Traction control,Lumbar support, ONSTAR, heated seats, ashtray, lighter, heated side mirrors, but this car rides better, handles better, better fuel milage, the differance in horse power is not that notice able from a 200HP v- 6 to a 140HP DOHC 4. the Civic is surely peppy, and fun to punch the throttle open. One of my concerns will be this winter in the snow, and ice. Well see

  • Wonderful Car - 2008 Honda Civic

Bought in Nov 07 with Nav and XM. More comfortable than the BMW 335 I looked at. More comfortable seats; more headroom. On the Highway at 65 mph I get 46-50 mpg, depending on hills or flat road. In town with stop and go I get around 30 mpg in the winter and 36 in the summer for short trips. Hybrid engines need to be warmed up for good mpg. (My wifes 2006 Odyssey gets 14-15 mpg in town and 24-25 on the highway.) The mpg calculated by the number of gallons of gas I use and miles I drive is 1-2 mpg higher than that shown on the dashboard mpg computer. MPG depends on weather, avg speed, hills, frequency of stops and starts, how soon you get off the gas before you stop, and how you accelerate.

  • My Reliable Civic!!! - 1990 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned my Civic for 2 and 1/2 years and the only thing Ive replaced on it were tires and a new radidtor hose! A zippy ride, due to the 5- speed manual. Very fun to drive, excellent handling and very dependable. Never left me stranded. Only routine maintenance required. (Oil changes, plugs, batteries,etc.). Keep your fluids changed regularly and itll run forever. Rock solid car! Only 115,000 miles on her. Plenty of life left. Ill drive her to 300,000!!

  • Fun Spunky Car - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

The speedometer display is easy to read day or night. I like the spunky engine and smooth quiet ride. The gas mileage is great! In one week I drove over 200 miles with more than 1/4 tank of gas left. The drivers seat is adjustable enough for me to reach the pedals and look over the dash (Im 5). My 63" husband is able to drive this car comfortably. Adults fit in the back with plenty of knee room. The a/c, defroster, heat and audio controls are easy to reach and operate. The a/c cools the whole car. The defroster automatically turns off. A standard feature is cruise control. I strongly recommend this car for performance, comfort, size and quality.

  • Awesome! - 2009 Honda Civic

This car is so fun to drive, it is amazing. To purchase a car with the performance, quality, below $20,000, is a steal. It has all the options except navigation, which I chose not to purchase. This car actually thinks for you. When driving, this car can scream down the road if you want it, with a redline of 8000 rpm, it flies. The handling is incredible, you almost feel like you are in a Indy car. If you are looking for a great small car, you must test drive the SI coupe.

  • Love this car! - 2006 Honda Civic

After driving a 2-dr, 2-seat v-6 gas- guzzling Dodge Dakota Sport Manual for 9-years and 149.5k miles while such little luxuries as Auto trans, CD players, power windows, and keyless entry passed me by, I decided it was time to get something fuel efficient, reliable, and safe (and not to mention the all-important-to-me envtl responsibility). My research all pointed to the new Civic, but knowing my mothers 98 Civic kept me from being excited about it. But lo and behold, I only had to drive this sweet, peppy little car for 5 minutes to feel completely at home and even to fall in love even. It strikes a magnificent chord between fun and practicality and I look forward to driving it.
