Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I am happy with the vehicle. But, when I was exploring which one of my cars to sell, I was extremely disappointed in the resale value.

  • 284k and still strong - 1991 Honda Civic

I bought this car 2 1/2 years ago at a little over 212k miles, and since then have put in a battery and alternator - thats reliability. If it hadnt been in an accident, it would still be on the road today...definately the best first car I ever could have asked for. My 94 Civic Si couldnt hold a candle to the 91s reliability, the 94s already had a timing belt, head gasket, water pump, thermostat, and brake calipers and pads (all 4), and Ive only had it a year.

  • Great Mileage - 2008 Honda Civic

I purchased a Civic Hybrid a few weeks ago and have put ~1880 miles on it thus far. The mileage keeps getting better as you learn to drive it. For the 1880 miles I am getting an overall of 46.3 mpg. I do a lot of highway driving, but amazingly, I usually see the mileage go up after I get off the highway. I have curbed my "need for speed" on the highway (usually travel somewhere between 62 and 68 mph - I used to drive my Audi at a steady 74 mph when I wasnt speeding)and am really into trying to get the maximum mileage. Ive totally enjoyed driving it while the gas prices keep going up. Makes you feel like you made a good decision in getting it.

  • Civic Si is too much fun - 2008 Honda Civic

Bought this Si about a week ago and have had a hard time leaving it parked. This car brought the biggest smile to my face that any car has given. Not only do you get amazing performance, but going down the highway I averaged 33 mpg. I havent had it for very long, but this car is one of the best deals I have ever gotten on a car and it is by far the most fun I have had in one.

  • Honda is where it is at... - 2002 Honda Civic

  • 3years 23k miles later - 2013 Honda Civic

After leasing this car for three years and recently returning it I think I have a good perspective on what this car is about. Its very cheap to run basic point A to B transportation that tries to infuse a bit of fun along the way. Unfortunately engine and transmission are not up to the task at all without adding another 40hp at least. Fuel economy seemed to be getting worse throughout the years to average of 28mpg. Road noise is horrendous and getting up to speed upon entering highway is an adventure especially if you have passengers. Bottom line if you commute a long ways away and need cheap reliable car this is it.

  • Loves It! - 2006 Honda Civic

Okay, so I bought my new Civic a couple months ago. Had to order it b/c I couldnt find a white LX Coupe anywhere. I waited for about a month and when it came in off that truck, it was definately worth the wait. The styling on this car is great. From just the lines of the body to the futuristic look of the dash; its impressing. The ride is so smooth and it feels like a car that should cost over $20,000. Ive always been a little weird w/ the Civics b/c I didnt want to buy a "cheap" car, but w/ this new design, Im sorry I ever felt that way. I love my new Civic and I cant wait to drive it for years to come (especially to the beach this summer!)

  • Perfect economic car - 2008 Honda Civic

It is a nice economic package the DX trim and it performs as an EX in a complete driving experience. The wheels are very nice, and its sporty look and the inches factory lowered give it something extra.

Purchased my Honda for the fuel economy because with my husbands job and our rural location we travel quite a bit. I average 45-48 miles per gallon. I love it, it also handles well, and the body style is much better than the Toyota Prius. Thankful that I had the foresight to purchase the vehicle during the high gas prices.
