Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  This is the best value on the road today. When I entered the economy car market for my 18 year old daughter, I figured wed end up with a watered down econo-box. I was AMAZED at the sporty build and performance. Add that to 38 mpg on the highway, and you have a must buy car. Maintenance is cheap and very infrequent. The interior has a sports car feel (somewhat like a junior version of my 2001 Acura 3.2CL Type S) and its a joy to drive.

  If you like to drive, this is the car for you. Amazing handling, a list of standard features as long as your arm combined with good gas mileage and Honda reliablity. And oh yah, if you keep the revs up it goes like a bat out of hell. I simply cannot believe the value this car represents. We bought one sight unseen, convinced by the reviews we were reading online that it would be a fun car to own, but nervous about its looks. Turns out the car looks way better in person than in photos. We got the front, rear, and side spoiler package. Looks very cool. Even if you think its the ugliest car on the planet, I suggest you take it for a test drive. (If you can find one to drive.) Zooooom

  Very nice car - 2016 Honda Civic

  The car is great Ive owned it for 4 weeks now and its awesome with all the technology it has. The ride is very comfortable, all my passengers have loved it and its visually appealing as well! I would say that the City MPG they over shot though so far the best gas mileage I can get average with mostly city is about 28-30 (thats what the vehicle estimates so Im sure its even a bit lower than that). Great highway mileage though and definitely plenty of power if you pop into Sport.

  this car saved my life i was t-boned by an expedition going 50 miles per hour....my car is totaled but i sustained little damage. this is a very save car and when i get my insurance money im buying another just like it

  Wife and I drove it on a road tour from Atlanta to Montreal and Bar Harbor, MA. Comfortable for long runs, despite size. No problem whatever.

  I really enjoy my Civic as a get me where I need to go kindof car. I do wish that it had a little more get up and go, but it is a great car and is very dependable otherwise.

  Had this car almost 2 years. No problems at all. HX gets 39!mpg mixed driving. Thought car was weak at first, but light body and high-geared engine very capable and fun to drive. Excellent interior, much better than other comperable cars. Roomy for a coupe. Exterior prone to dings though.

  This is the best car!! It handles GREAT and is great on gas! The design is so sporty and I get compliments everywhere I go! My husband just bought a 2005 Accord fully loaded and still loves to drive my special edition civic. He thinks it handles even better than his! I love my car!!!! It also has a sterio that is chrome! No other honda has this radio! Its gorgeous!

  Never owned a Honda before. This car is perfect. It rides smoothly, quiet interior, more roomy than one would expect for a small car. It also looks sharp.
