A host of minor changes bring the Civic into 2003. On the inside, all models gain improved seat fabrics, rear adjustable outboard headrests and new four-spoke steering wheels. On HX, LX and EX Civics, you'll find improved gauge illumination. There's a new center console for LX and EX, and a CD player is standard for HX and LX. On the outside, the 2003 Honda Civic has freshened taillamps and new wheel designs. Also, there is a Hybrid Civic available for the 2003 model year.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

I absolutly love my new Honda Civic. My last car was a 1988 Honda Accord Hatchback which lasted me more than 18 with NO repairs (tires, brakes, etc. not withstanding). Im sure I will get the same reliability and dependability with my new car. It looks beautiful with the spoiler and ground pkg. it has a very sporty look and feel and I get many compliments on it.

If VWs GTI is too square or the new Mini S is too pricey, the Civic Si is for you. To be honest with you the MINI is a lot more fun to drive with go cart feel. But for the price you can not beat the Si. Very solid fit and finish through out and very reliable. I was in a car accident in mine and we rolled. The Civic saved my life. The area aroung the driver remained intact.

I drive the Hybrid in the city and on long trips. Gas mileage is fantastic, although I lose the Autostop when the outside temp is below 32F. Recent trip through Cdn and US Rockies was impressive for handling and fuel consumption. The electric boost is great for passing, but on long mountain climbs the battery does run down so you are left with the gas motor alone. Havent had any really cold weather so will have to see how it does in minus 30

Having just bought my Civic, Im still learning things about it. But in the 2 weeks Ive had the car, here are my impressions. This car is so sporty looking. By getting rid of the panel most cars have, it makes the car appear sleaker. The instrument panel rocks. The brightness is astounding. It has zip. It accelerates nicely up hills and on freeway onramps. The interior cloth, still has that entry-level import look to it, but is tons better than in years past. The 6 speaker CD stereo has great sound. The trunk holds plenty of cargo. A very comfortable back seat with, get this, a flat floor.

The Honda Civic is a great economy car. The gas mileage is very good with prices being so high. The car handles very well but it is a little on the low end for acceleration. A great thing about this car is that the oil only needs to be changed every 10,000 miles. Another benefit comes when you sell the car, the Civics tend to have a really good resale value.

This car handles very well and is fun to drive. I love listening to the sound of silence when it goes into auto-stop mode. Rapid acceleration in drive was only fair. Finish is typical Honda, excellent. So far I would buy it again.

Ive owned Hondas for 17 years and wont buy anything else. I decided to change from the 5 speed manual back to an automatic and bought the Civic because it was inexpensive and cute, cute, cute!! It surprised me at how quick it is. I was going from an Accord 5 speed with 150 horsepower to the Civic automatic with 106 horsepower. But this little car will scoot! Excellent value for the price.

After so many cars that were fine in what they did I gave myself a treat and put all the fun back into the driving experience! Not since I was first licensed have I had such a silly grin when Im behind the wheel driving for driving sake, not just to ferry kids arround!

Stats: avg 500+ mi/tank, avg 47.0 mpg over 35k mi. My car seemed to have about a 10k mile break-in period before 50 mpg per tank became common. Winter also lowers the mpg per tank to low to mid 40s. Highly recommend the manual to get better performance. From a purely economic standpoint (I bought for other reasons) it is better to buy a normal Civic. Assuming you get a 47 mpg hybrid for a final cost of $19k and you get about $500 back in taxes from your deduction, a normal civic at 35mpg would show a breakeven at 100k miles for a cost of $17150 at $1.90/gal of gas. You can get a pretty sweet normal Civic for $17150 and not take the hybrid battery risk

Hondas have been a part of my family from the day I was born, this was a natural choice for the purchase of my first car. The Civic has come along way since my father first purchase his first Civic in 1979. The Honda now has all safety and reliability of the old Honda, but the added improvements of style (its a car you wont be embarassed driving) and upgraded features.
