Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great car, but far from perfect - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

I love almost everything about this car. The handling is nice, you dont have to change the oil but for every 7500 miles, good size/feel, good mileage, lots of good things No repair issues. The only things I dont like are the brakes (they have started to make lots of noises but are only at around 50% wear, just an annoyance) and the acceleration. The acceleration leaves a lot to be desired. You dont buy a Civic for a performance vehicle, I guess. Again, its not awful, but I wish it had a little more giddy-up going uphill.

  • Puddle water shakes passanger side wheel - 2002 Honda Civic

This is a reply to an earlier post. I had the same problem as Scott...Does anyone else have this problem with the 2002, Honda Civic EX, 4dr, 5 speed Man. When driving through puddles the water splashes on the exhaust and has a loud noise, the noise you would hear if a car had no exhaust. As it dries, 30 seconds, it goes away. Honda knows of this issue and calls it a "characteristic of the car". They said not to worry and left it at that.

  • Still love this car - 2004 Honda Civic

Its been 3 years and 47,000 miles and I still love this car. Good acceleration, responsive. It still sings under my hands. And still gets great gas mileage (24 city/28 highway)

  • Great car for what it is - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased my Civic Si 3 years ago. I have had absolutely no problems with this vehicle. transmission is amazing, clutch feel is great, handling is excellent for a front wheel drive. Understand its a civic, and while its the performance model of a civic, its power is only moderate or a bit lacking by todays standards. gas mileage is great and reliability is fantastic.

  • Buy it - 2003 Honda Civic

Outstanding car. Plenty of power, great stiff ride, German feel, good fuel econ. about 27mpg avg. I have had this car since it was brand new, and I will drive it until the wheels fall off. Of the cars in this class, this is the best one. Hatch is handy. Deceptively roomy. Great seats and steering wheel. Brakes are better than average for Honda.

  • From GM to Honda... smart move!! - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Having been a GM fan for years, I see what I have been missing... I am impressed with this vehicle I have had it for a week now, and I cant stop driving it. It makes me want to drive, is fun to drive, gas is great! You cant go wrong with this choice, in my opinion. At least test drive one and youll see what I mean. Good resale value as well. Lease rates are amazingly low compared to other Japanese automakers.

  • 15,000 Miles - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive got 15k miles on this thing now and so far so good, not one glitch except for a slight rattle in the headliner at certain rpms. Other than that its performed flawlessly. I was a little skeptical about not changing the oil until ten thousand miles but it seems to be OK and hasnt burned any that I can tell.

  • it keeps going and going and going - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

I love my civic, I have driven it across the country. It now has 208,000 mile and is still going. Just in the last year has it begun to need repairs. (Head work, air compressor, rear door interior)I am looking for a new car and hope my next car is as good as this one has been.
