Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

You get what you pay for - 2005 Honda Civic
By dmvp29 - March 30 - 1:43 pmThe car is fragile. Moderate winds will really affect driving, car sways easily. Acceleration 40-60 is extremely poor when A/C turned on and average with A/C turned off. Acceleration 0-40 with A/C off is above average for what you pay for. Gas mileage is good, comparable to what is advertised. Wheel alignment is fragile. Even moderately aggressive driving may cause alignment problems in the future. Car does not handle curves well. If youre buying this car for a child who only needs a car to get from point A to point B, then a Civic is a terrific investment and great value. This car gets you from point A to point B, nothing more.

WOW - what a car! - 2006 Honda Civic
By us3 - March 27 - 9:30 pmWe drove all the competitors and this car stood out above the rest by far. I also have a 2000 Civic, but this car is like a totally different make in comparison. It is very stylish and seems like a luxury European interior. I am completely satisfied at this point and highly recommend taking one for a test drive - you wont be disappointed!

My Civic is pretty G - 1997 Honda Civic
By Thug Life - March 27 - 9:12 pmI have been driving this car for about nine months. I have to say it is quite premium. It looks very nice, is easy to work on, and is fun to drive. Like other reviewers, I really like the lack of power steering and the driving feel it brings. The car is easy to work on and has a lot of tuning potential. Also I get well above 35 MPG in the city.

Happy So Far - 2008 Honda Civic
By Peter - March 27 - 7:56 amBought this car used and have put a few thousand miles on it so far. Gas mileage is great in and out of town. EX trim is very nice and I get many compliments. Accelerates and handles exceptionally well. Interior is fairly nice, but dials for climate and audio feel cheap. Long trips get a little uncomfortable, but I bought it as a commuter car, so I knew what I was getting. No major problems yet and looking forward to having this car a long time.

"Ive wanted this car for 10 years!, - 2004 Honda Civic
By Paul Moore - March 26 - 12:09 amYou have to like 2 door cars, the versatility of a hatchback, and a slightly noisy ride, but this is a fun car to drive. The engine is 160hp and it will acceleratequickly. The front seats are supportive and the shifter is in a unique location.

MPG monster - 2017 Honda Civic
By Fitz - March 25 - 3:18 amPaying attention to what the mainstream reviewers focused on: 1) Its a CVT and youd only notice the tone/feel if you were waiting for a normal upshift during light acceleration. If you stomp on it, it GOES. If youre looking for the turbo lag, youll find it - but youll also hit 60 in 7 seconds. Theres just no downside to the normal needs of daily driving in this car. 2) "No volume knob". Yeah, you get used to the steering wheel controls. It was a non issue for me. I do compare it to our Ford Edge though. The Synch 3 has a multi-display (like radio and map at the same time) and the Hondas only shows one thing at a time. Both have advantages. 3) Lane Watch is better than looking backwards over your shoulder to your right side blind spot. Im afraid the new habit will kill me when driving another car. 4) Styling: Never mind the opinions. Handwashing all the nooks and crannies is a pain. The number of textured features is incredible when youre sponging out seasonal pollen. 5) Theres a lot of commentary about lack of lumbar support in the seats. Yup. Im used to Accord level leather seats and these civic ones sometimes give like an old recliner cushion. I have had no discomfort on my regular long commutes though. They also look great. 6) Handling: Sweet. When you start turning too hard/fast on a highway ramp, you can feel the dampeners take over and start subtracting G-force. It gives me the impression Im being seduced into going faster when perhaps the car should be telling me to behave. Ive gotten nothing but wild compliments and jealousy in this car. Its a lot of fun.
