Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Still a honda fan - 1995 Honda Civic

this is our second honda, and we love it. It runs great, drives and rides great, and is just great in general. The cup holder placing is kind of lame, though, but otherwise its just right.

Overall, Ive owned 3 other Honda civics. Nothing beats the 1996. Its a tank and keeps on going no matter what goes wrong with it.

  • Best car Ive ever owned. - 2006 Honda Civic

Originally bought this as a commute car, never owned a Civic before. I absolutely LOVE this car. Everything about it is perfect. I am not given to hyperbole but I rated it "10" in every category because it really is outstanding. Design, performance, reliability - everything is top notch. If you are considering a hybrid, look at Honda. Drives like a normal car, looks sleek and I can get 50+mpg on the highway if I am easy on the gas pedal. Honda really hit it out of the park on this one.

  • Good car, Good price - 2008 Honda Civic

Great car, owned since new. Low cost of ownership; I have not spent any money other than for oil changes (20k on car). The cockpit design is great, more storage space than needed. Fuel mileage is a steady 29-30mpg, 40mpg is attainable on the highway. Very stable in corners. The stock tires (Bridgestone) do not last very long. Replacements with a higher tread wear should be purchased. The A-pillar blocks a greater portion of your viewable area, more so than a standard A- pillar. This can be dangerous in areas of high foot traffic. Acceleration in the lower RPMs can cause cringing. However, above 4.5k the car has plenty of power for acceleration. Road noise is pronounced.

  • Rethinking My Purchase - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this vehicle September, 2005. I considered buying the 2005 Nissan Sentra but got a better deal with the Civic. I traded in a 1998 Civic which to me is a better vehicle performance wise than the 2005 model. There is considerable drain on the engine when accelerating to highway speed. The air conditioner is less than desirable on extreme hot days. Braking is poor. Someone missed the mark when they said gas milage is 38/29. I get approximately 31/23. It might be a Honda, but this is a low budget automobile and you get what you pay for.

  • My 25th car, and I love it. - 1995 Honda Civic

Having owned many different types and models of cars now, I will have to say the Civic is my all time favorite. Ive parted with all my cars in the past except for my Civic and my CRX, 2 of the best cars I have ever owned. I recently sold my 97 subaru for this 95 civic and I have no regrets. Ive been in search for a Civic since my old 91 civic finally died out after 4 accidents and 258K miles. As long as you can find one that wasnt raced out, and maintained, everything will be fine. Yeah they ride just a tiny bit rough, but handle great, reliable, peppy, 38-45 mpg, and just a blast to drive. Make sure to install an alarm as these cars are hot.

  • a good decision - 2002 Honda Civic

I needed to replace my 92 Maxima with a bum tranny. My wife suggested we go to our Honda dealer and see the used Hondas and take advantage of the great certified used program. We saw two 2002 Civics, one EX and one LX each with 8,500 miles. The LX drove basically the same. I am very pleased with the deal Bobby Rahal Honda gave us. After factoring in a hefty trade, I think our actual purchase price was around $13,500. I think this is a good deal for a 2002 Civic with 8,500 miles and a better warranty than a new Civic. I do miss the V6 and ride of the Maxima, but my wife says I can drive the Accord if I need that big car ride again.

  • Loved my little honda hybrid - 2008 Honda Civic

I had this car for 1 year, drove 11k, bot used w/7k and sadly hit a large deer on the highway and totaled it. That said, I was not hurt in the accident. Airbags did not go off, but have heard the sensors are in the bumpers and they were not damaged. Glad they didnt, as Im petite and may have been hurt. Car was fun to drive, could have had more pick-up, but did not bother me and with the mpg, you cant have your cake and eat it too. Commute into Boston, noticeable difference in mpg in the cold. ~30 city mpg in the winter, ~36 summer, 40- 48 highway depending on length of trip, road conditions (inclines, etc.), and speed. Best mpg seemed to be cruising around 72 mph. Miss this car.

  • Totally Awesome!!! - 2006 Honda Civic

First, I would like to say that I can not believe that I am in a Civic. I had owned a 96 Civic, before I just purchased the Lx 06 Civic, and it is totally redesigned in a classy way. It handles the road so smooth, and so much fun to drive. The price is just right for all the things that you get. I can see why it was voted Motor Trend car of the year!!
