Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  Bought a silver one new in 99 and have replaced brake shoes and the timing belt. Thats it.. Besides a plugged windshield sprayer and a fuse for the cooling fan nothing to report. Selling now with 194,000 kms and oil is still always clean.

  Good car, great gas mileage. Would be a great car to send your kid off to college in. Not so great for a family of 4, though!

  Greatest car I have owned! - 2005 Honda Civic

  I purchased this car after putting 169,285 miles on a 1996 Accord. The Civic offered everything that I was looking for and more. I drive 40 miles one way to work, 6 days a week and I only have to fill up once a week. When I do fill up, it doesnt cost me a body part because the gas tank is small. My wife, mom, and brother liked my car so much that they went to the dealership and traded their cars in for Civics.

  Honda Civic vs. Toyota Prius - 2016 Honda Civic

  Having been a loyal Toyota Prius customer for over 10 years, I was anxiously awaiting the newly-styled 2016 model. When few Prius models were in stock at the beginning of 2016, I wanted to take a look at other models such as the Honda Civic which I owned 15 years ago. I took a a test ride of the Civic and was really impressed with its features, specially its Honda Sensing ones. I was already aware that I wanted the new Prius to have a strong safety technology package. Upon closer inspection I realized that the Civic actually had more safety features than the Prius. But the deciding factor was that the Touring model was priced about $3000 less than the Prius comparably equipped. With the Civic, the only thing I was missing was the Prius great MPG rating. But that $3000 savings would buy a lot of gas! On a day in early January I visited 2 Honda dealers just on a scouting mission not planning to buy. But after the second dealer, I pulled the trigger and bought the Touring model that includes so many features found on luxury cars: leather seats, moonroof, safety package, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto just to name a few. Why would I ever go back to the Prius?

  Civic Si drives like a go-cart, has great feel, is 1000 lbs lighter that VW Golf(power-weight ratio)and that you can feel. The exterior is very Euro, and I rarely see any others here in WI, so thats always a good thing, especially since its a Honda and there is no shortage of non- hatches around. Overall, I still cant believe the amount of car I got for the money. Thanks to all the SUV suckers, us car buyers reap mucho savings.

  Bought this car to replace my 03 Accord that was totaled in an accident. Was considering a new Accord, but the price of Accords have gone up from when I purchased my 03. And I was looking for a car with better gas mileage than the current Accord. I decided to give the Civic a chance. Im glad I did! I loved this car from my first test drive. It is surprisingly roomy and has a peppy engine---acceleration is more than adequate. I have only owned this car for 1 month. 3 tanks of gas with gas mileage slowly improving from 28 to 29, to 30. This is with my A/C on ALL the time (in 100+ degrees) and with mixed highway/city driving. I am sure gas mileage will improve.
