  • Good for the Cost, Reliability - 2005 Honda Civic

I have now owned this car for close to three months and the thing that gets me is the gas mileage. Its got good functionality, nice looks--but the gas mileage is the part that sells it.

I drive 40 miles one way to work and needed a car with good gas mileage. Also a care that was fun to drive at a great price. I found all of this in my Civic EX. I have over 8,000 miles on my Civic and its still tight, no rattles or other noises. The instrument panel is easy on the eyes with great gauges. The trunk is very roomy and love the fold down back seat which adds to extra trunk room. The engineers designed a great car that rides smooth and looks great too. There are 3 things that is a must when Im looking for a new car, 1 good reliability, 2 A/C & heating and 3 a great sound system. My Civic EX has it all and more!

  • Good little car - 2005 Honda Civic

Bought it to replace my Ford midsized car. Very good handling. To state the obvious that some people forget, the way you drive will change the results you get with MPG. Ive been averaging 42 since I bought the car in very mixed driving situations. Been as high as 50 and as low as 33. The computer is a little dumb and doesnt shut-off the gasonline engine sometimes when youre sitting in traffic. Overall, Im very happy and love the blue color.

  • Not as expected - 2005 Honda Civic

I am disappointed with the MPG. I am averaging 36.3 MPG which isnt far from its original non-hybrid. Honda claims its because I live in Florida and we use the AC year round and that lowers the MPG. Also, the AC doesnt work while the car is sitting idle.

  • Good car fair price - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought this car because I was in need of a car that was good on gas mileage. I travel a average of 4,000 miles per month. This car does not requiring oil changes every 3,000 miles, but it requires them every 7,000, so I save a lot of money on basic upkeep. Most of the miles I drive are on the highway. I average around 43 mpg on highway. I would probably get more if I kept my foot out of the pedal. If you are looking for a mid priced vehicle that you want to get your money out of. this is it. Low cost on fuel and low cost on upkeep.

my main concern when buying the car is the pick up because i was worried with gas/electric if it would have any kick to it...and i was extremely shocked to find the pick up was actually great. obviously you cant beat the gas milage...had the car 2 days, and getting 32MPG...will soon be near 50. the display panel is so cool you need to remember to pay attention to the road. stero is a good stock stereo. roomy interior. absolute great car!

  • Mileage not as advertised - 2005 Honda Civic

Traded in my Jetta 1.8T for a better mileage/newer car. Noticeable step down in interior quality compared to VW but delivers a good ride. I can *not* get the advertised 47/48mpg. My average is 37/37. I have seen 39 city and 45 highway, and that was with a 15 knot tailwind at 60mph. Told it will improve over time (?) If you drive faster than 70mph, you will lose mileage fast. I set the cruise at 80mph for a while and averaged about 28mpg. Consider carefully the kind of driving you do. If you drone in the 70- 80mph realm like I do, look at a TDI Golf (like I should have). If you live in the 50-60mph realm, this is the car for you. Not suited for droning in the the windy OK/KS plains.

Great car! It may only have 115 horses but it is still very peppy. The seats are comfortable but are on the stiffer side. Gets great gas mileage.

  • I love this car! - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought this car last year when local gas prices hit $2.50 per gallon and I had to make 200+ mile trip over the mountains 4-6 a month. The only problem I have ever had in the last year is a nail in the tire. I love this car and I love how easy it is to drive and take care of. This car ROCKS!
