  • Real good "little" car - 2003 Honda Civic

This car is only two weeks young at the time im writting this but the early feeling is this is a pretty solid compact car.It handles reel well and has more pep than i though it would have for a 4 cyl..My only complaints so far are drivers seat headroom the radio and road noise.Im 6 tall and with the seat adjusted all the way down my hair just touchs the headliner which is a little annoying so i have to recline the seat back a little more than i like. As far as the road noise is concerned a change of tires will probably take care of it. Last but not least the raido. Weak, weak, weak. If you like a sound system with balls this one will need an upgrade.

Got it new and I was pretty pleased at the price, at first. Almost from the get go though there was some "clicking" from the engine, bad smell from the AC and all the moding seems to be coming off. Tried to take it in for repairs but nothing ever seems to get fixed and I feel a lot of the people at the dealership are being rude and they just dont want to seem to help me. Cant imagine going Honda again. Too bad too since I was really excited about getting my Civic.

The 2003 LX is NO FUN at all to drive. The steering is firm but vague, and it refuses to recenter properly. Brake feel is appalling. On the plus side, it is very roomy, its cleanly designed (if boring), and its fine on the highway. Material quality is typical for Honda - first rate, lightyears ahead of anything built by the US manufacturers. This car has qained a full quarter-ton of weight since 1996. Its safer than the previous generation, but the weight increase - absent a commensurate power increase - means that the car is slooooowww off the line. Cornering is uninspired, and as I said, braking is poor.

I admit, Im not that young anymore, but I still like economical, fun-to-drive cars that will last. I have owned my Si new just over 2 years and have 57,000 miles on it. It is by far the most comfortable long-distance car I have driven. The handling is superb, the seats are comfortable yet sporty, the ergonomics are excellent. I average 30 MPG and my experience with dealerships has been very good. I think the leg room in the rear is better than the Jetta, and the utility of the hatch is terrific. The overall feel of this car is far better the price I paid for it. This is definitely an overlooked value.

  • Nice car but a bit pricey for a compact - 2003 Honda Civic

We really like the car, but think that we paid more for the Honda name than what its worth. We also just had a problem with the transmission. Apparently the 03s had a bulletin for transmission problems. We plan on driving the car for some time and now wish we had more than a 3 year warranty.

I got this car brand new with 2 miles on it in April 2003. I traded it in last night after 13.5 years and 196k miles. Awesome car! Only issue was temp gauge that no matter what was replaced, kept acting up. Thats reason why I got a new car. But other than that it was an amazing car, reliable.

Best car on the road, however little small for 66 guy. Can not beat the quality, gas mileage, and depreciation.

  • Civic Hybrid 03 ... great car - 2003 Honda Civic

40k miles on it now. If I drive it insanely hard I get 41 mpg. Normal around 48 mpg. If I pay attention, I can get 55 mpg (stay off the interstate to do this.) Acceleration is enough to merge well on freeways (okay, so its not a Viper...). Handles fairly well and comfortable enough (didnt buy it to be a limo...). Its a great car and looks just like a regular Civic (a plus for me).

  • Honda Sis forever! - 2003 Honda Civic

This is the third Civic Si and the 16th Honda (not including my Honda motorcycles) that I have owned. It may be viewed by some as a kids car, but I am not a kid. To others, the exterior design may seem a little "funky" but I love it. Best of all, I really like the performance for the price in combination with decent fuel economy and the complete relability of a Honda. My last Si had 180,000 miles on it when it was "retired" by a careless driver. Otherwise, I would still be driving it! Dollar for dollar, you cant beat them!
